I'd get someone to write a proper film score. People used to get paid for that kind of thing.

  2. Writing songs in 2019 - about a film set in 1969 ish wouldn’t work for me - especially when there is so much undiscovered and un-heard great music from that time period.

    Otherwise, I agree with you.

I’m of the complete opposite opinion. Think of Pixies Where is My Mind kicking in at the end of Fight Club. Perfection.

Rock songs have successfully been used in films since Easy Rider and Mean Streets, and probably before that too. I merely lament the lack of work for musicians these days.

    Not recently. Are they scored?

Well, you know, with TV shows becoming more and more cinematic, lots of them have amazing scores written specifically for them (Game Of Thrones and Better Call Saul immediately come to mind as prime examples).

Besides, lots of recent films still have scores, many of which are just as excellent as some of the classic ones.

Sure. But gone are the days when every TV show had specially written scores and every Ad it's own jingle. Anyhow, here's my track list:

    Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive.

Point to you. I've started noticing how many ads just take popular melodies, record new vocals over them which advertise the product/service and question and then call it a day. I mean, I'm 20, so it's been this way ever since I can remember, but whenever I watch old TV spots online I just miss those very own jingles which went along very well with the product, helping to distinguish it from the rest of the market.

As for shows, you know - many (especially comedies) don't even use opening credit sequences anymore. No space for a score anymore, it seems

Yeah, I think it was more fun with all the jingles and "proper" tv music.

He's fairly famous for drawing from Popular music. He does have a little bit of scoring in some.

This being both Tarantino and Swinging London perhaps something based on the Kray Brothers?
