He was one of those rare individuals who would bring a smile to your face when you saw him in a film........no matter how mediocre the movie, he had the ability to improve it. A very talented actor, as he was able to have you laughing and then dabbing your eyes during the same scene.

Gosh, I remember when he died, it was such a terrible shock!
He was amazing! Not many comedians can make me laugh and at the same time
touch me 'emotionally' like he could and make me cry in alternating scenes of a film.
The greats 'Uncle Buck' 'Planes' and 'Cool Runnings' include all of these elements of his craft.
You can't help but love him.
A great loss to the film world.

The movie about the security guards with met Ryan was funny. He shoots the shark.

Charismatic, articulate, underrated actor, loyal to his friends to a fault, enhanced every movie he was in.

Loved by all. Gone too soon.

Hey, I stopped smoking cigarettes. Isn't that something? I'm on to cigars now. I'm on to a five-year plan. I eliminated cigarettes, then I go to cigars, then I go to pipes, then I go to chewing tobacco, then I'm on to that nicotine gum.

I've been eating a lot of cheese lately...

I love the Mrs. Falbo (Andrea Martin) kid’s show skit where a gunshot was heard in the scene. John Candy’s character: “What the hell was that, Mrs. Falbo!?”

So many great, hilarious performances by Candy on SCTV prior to his move to the big screen.

Candy was just as great in small cameo roles as he was as the star of the film. Truly one of a kind. A comedic genius with a softer side that made him easy to love. Who can even forget his smaller roles as the announcer in Rookie of the Year, Spike Nolan in Brewster's Millions, Gus Polinski the Polka King of the Midwest... the list goes on and on.

John Candy was terrific. Such an incredibly likable performer. To me he was a real star. From what I've read, he was a great guy in real life also.
I recently watched Cool Runnings for the first time in years, which was a much better film that I remembered. Highly recommended.

Every year we watch PT&A and every year the Del Griffith character kills me.

John Candy was one of a kind and his death has always hit me hard.

Another great cameo playing Wink Wilkerson in Little Shop Of Horrors..

I woke up in the middle of the night last night and somebody was showing Planes Trains & Automobiles. That scene when Steve Martin rips into him in the hotel room still hurts to watch. John Hughes was great at hitting funny, over the top and seriously hurtful in one scene.

My best friend and I still often do an "orange whip, orange whip, orange whip, three orange whips" bit, when ordering drinks.

My brother and I are dressing up as Jake and Elwood for my cousin’s halloween party, this year...right down to the fedoras, skinny ties, two button suit jackets and ray ban wayfarer shades. He’s a big fan, too, and he has no idea of our costumes. I’m going to use the orange whip line, when I have a seat at his basement bar :)
