Two thumbs up for including Berg's Violin Concerto, I will definitely sample this one too! Thanks for the recommendation.

That has to be a great feeling :D I bring boxes of CDs from my parents house whenever I visit them and am surprised by some of the recordings I'd bought and forgot about. Max Reger's cello/piano music being one of my recently found discs I've had in my heavy rotation.

Another great string trios disc by Cedille featuring some lesser-known composers.

When we post what we're listening to or what we like we're not asking you to buy it you know.
Besides, enough already of the ad nauseam "I don't like Bartok" posts.

Probably not the thing for those who don't go for 20th Century music, except perhaps the Rozsa & Korngold. The sound of this skilled Quartet is pretty astringent, making even the pieces by R & K sound less romantic.

This was a revelation to me when I bought it in the 90s, partially because it's the first time I tried listening to Beethoven's quartets. Powerful playing. Also wish this reissue series continued much longer than it did.

If your post is referring to the mono Budapest String Quartets Sony recently reissued the Beethoven cycle in a box set. If it's about the Masterworks Heritage series then ignore my post :)

There are some pretty nice recordings on Seraphim, the budget label for Angel though I am not sure if that label is actually available in the UK as well. Unfortunately, Seraphim CD's have never been widely available stateside. At least that was the impression I had when I shopped at B&M stores back in the day ...

Was humming the first movement's theme from the first Cello Sonata in my head all day

Finished listening to Prokofiev's first Violin Sonata and first Violin Concerto (Oistrakh/Bauer and Oistrakh/Kondrashin/USSRSSO respectively). Later on will be starting the first CD of Schoenberg's Choral Works.

They had a super-budget series earlier in the 90s. I have quite a few, but I no longer remember if I got them at Tower or on-line. They included recordings issued here on Angel & Capitol.

This CD twofer consists of mostly previously released recordings so this photo might not even be specifically taken for the twofer ...

According to my computer, I have around 10 Seraphim CD's. That number is minuscule relative to my entire CD collection ...
