I recently received a gift of a used iPod. I have a bunch of iTune music on my iPhone. What’s the easiest way transfer this music fr the phone to the iPod? Do I have to involve a pc ? Can I somehow connect the phone to the iPod and go direct? As you can tell I’m pretty ignorant in this area so any help is appreciated.

Depends on what kind of iPod, and where your music is located.

If this is an iPod Touch and your music exists in Apple's Cloud, then you can access or download from the cloud to the iPod Touch. But if you're talking about a "Classic iPod" (no Wifi / no iOS) then you'd need a PC / Mac to sync music to the iPod.

Yeah, it’s a classic iPod, no internet connection. Any tips would be great.

If it’s cloud music from Apple Music you won’t be able to transfer it. If it’s your own you’ll need a computer as others have indicated.

@Gaslight is correct. Do you mean music PURCHASED from iTunes? Or do you mean from the monthly subscription fee Apple Music service?

It’s the monthly subscription Apple Music Service

No way of transferring that onto an older iPod. Music purchased from the iTunes Store, ripped from CD into iTunes or otherwise imported into iTunes can be transferred.

Try out a software called CopyTrans - Home . I'm not sure how much it lets you transfer before having to pay for the software, but might be worthwhile to look into.

Still can't copy music from the Apple Music service to a non-Touch iPod. The files you download for offline listening are locked to that device and have an expiration date when they will cease working.

Yeah my bad wasn't even thinking of that.

As mentioned, Apple Music isn't backwards compatible to iPod Classic(s), not even via a sync from iTunes. It's a shame actually as that would have been a great way to use the old iPods in a new way but they probably would have had to revamp the iPod firmware too heavily, plus not wanting to put resources towards unsupported hardware to do that.
