I saw Mychael's note. Regardless of the label, these all appear to be mixed bag compilations. I am just about done with ever buying another compilation box or single CD. No more. I will only buy discs or boxes that are devoted to one artist from now on, with only a rare exception. I'll keep up with the BF rockabilly series That'll Flat Out Git It, for example, at least for now (maybe quit that too)
That is something I totally agree with. The CD cover is not only about design, it should serve a function. The Mosaic company started out just putting songlists on CD inserts. Then they started listening to customers and giving more information in CD inserts. It is not adequate for Bear Family to say "Look in the hardcover book". Totally inconvenient and impossible in many situations. An archival company should be about information presented in a useful manner. Make CD inserts that are more informative. I bet most Bear Family customers would like CD information that is easier to use. Why doesn't Bear Family listen?
Even something as simple as song numbers lol. I don't want to have to count the artists to find out who's singing Song #10...
Wow, that packaging is even more ill-fitting than what mine came in. Sorry to see the seam split, hopefully you can at least get that partial refund. I agree it's a bit annoying, but I'm not sure if they'd be able to fit both discs' tracks on the back unless it were written in a tiny font. Maybe they could list the tracks on the inside of the digipak, behind the clear plastic.
I ended up getting a 20% refund and kept the box set (Amazon.de gave me 40% partial refund for the Lousiana Hayride box that was damaged almost identical)
Present the CDs with an insert. Whether in a jewel box or digipack. To me, the worst is the folio presentation. No easy to use information, very awkward to use, and the packaging often leads to scratched discs
I printed the song listings off of Amazon to reference while listening. Did the same thing for the Louisiana Hayride box. I agree it would be preferable to have the listings on the CD case, but sometimes we have to do our best to make do.
Eouch!! What a shame. That packaging is hideous. Could have added some packaging beads at least. Pathetic!
The real shame is that there are people who accept this for a refund. No wonder Amazon is not worrying about proper and protective packaging.
Bear Family suggestion: The Complete Buddy Knox. Collect all his Roulette, Liberty and United Artists and Rockstar recordings, plus whatever independent releases there may be. Would make a great collection of material from his first album in 57', 'Gypsy Man' at UA, to his country material with 'Sweet Country Music', and the 45's in between. There are a couple of good comps around, I got one on Rhino, but like most, are focused around the earlier material. I know BF has the single disc they have, but Buddy Knox deserves the BF 'box' treatment.
You have to love primitive sound and television. Buddy Knox live in 57 with band. Buddy Knox - Party Doll
Never heard this one before. Has a familiar intro to another one of his big hits... Buddy Knox - Don't Make A Ripple
