As expected, there is filler tonight from what I've been reading.

T-Pain won as the monster - that's a throwback of sorts.

Young and the Restless, Bold and The Beautiful, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital are the 4 soap operas left on American TV. Otherwise, you are right that they are dead on American television. Most women work outside the home as well.

If you tape a soap opera it takes up about 36 minutes time (total). Yet, with the absolutely glacial pace of any SO plot line and the constant he’s with her and now she’s with him cliches, it’s just utterly boring. That said, some are better than others. It’s still a dying medium, though.

    Yes indeed it is dying.

Donny Osmond and Gladys Knight were the 2nd and 3rd place winners.

  8. nah, they've just altered the format a bit and called them "reality shows."

High soap opera quotient in American news stories these days, too. I've read that Italian TV has had us beat for decades at that, but the people in charge of American TV news have plainly drawn inspiration from them.

  9. The Mexican soap operas are the ones to watch.

    I'm thinking:

    Tree- Candace Cameron Bure
    Skeleton- Wallace Shawn

    It’s gotta be Martin Short

  12. FWIW Australia has it’s own version of this and apparently another dozen or more other countries as well.
If this is the end of civilisation at least we’re all going together.

A lot of people are saying that Tree is someone from a game show or SNL.

They are getting a little more challenging with the clues...

The Flamingo- I'm going with either a WWE Diva or Brooke Hogan (Florida, all that stuff with cages, and the fancy belt in the clue package).

Paul Shaffer as the Skeleton makes more sense...I'm changing my answer.

So, this is quite an interesting choice for a contestant:

It's funny, I thought the Fox was Jamie Foxx the whole time until that last masked performance when it became obvious it was somebody else. Wayne really sings a lot like Foxx, and kudos to him for winning. Had no idea on Daughtry being the Rotty.

Probably the right choice. I always think of Wayne Brady as a genius of improv comedy- which he is based on his performances on Whose Line and host of Let's Make a Deal, but he definitely has the musical chops. Like he said, on this show you lead with talent.

Loved Seal as the drag queen leopard even if it was obvious who he was since day 1.

Season 3 will be premiering on February 2 after the Super Bowl. Here is what's known so far.

    • There will be 18 celebrities and 14 weeks
    • Some of the costumes are a Banana, a Robot, a Llama, a Frog, and a Female Monster

Just as I thought that I might watch an episode, I realized that the masked singers aren't actually singers, just "celebrities" trying to sing.
