  1. Enjoyed it but the cliff hanger I hated simply because we don't know about a season four. I was expecting what happened based on what went before but still. Nice turn again by Paul Williams (a fine actor in addition to a great songwriter who never got his due as an actor).

  2. Welllllll there's a reason for that explained further in the series.

Thanks, good to know. I did really like Nina Arianda, so I'm glad to hear she's still part of the show.

Having just watched episode 6, I can't figure for the life of me why Billy keeps going back to the casino bar when by now he must know that they've been spiking his drinks, and why he would bring those NDA's back to his room when he must've figured out that they're watching him all the time, which they are. He's smarter then that so I don't get it.

  6. Yeah, that’s the feeling I have as well. Part way through Ep 2 and giving it a break. Let the new direction sink in a bit. Actually looked up who was doing the writing & directing to see if they are fans of DL (I’m not a huge fan myself - some of it is OK, some is just a bit too “Out There” for me)

I wasn't crazy about ep. two and along with more Lynch isms and references (Roy Orbison), I don't think my wife liked it much although she hasn't said anything yet. I'll watch another and decide. A number of shows I've watched fell apart in the third season.

Got to say I was slightly put off at first by the premise and setting of this year's installment, but I finished episode 4 last night and I am hooked. Love how that episode went back and filled in the gaps and gave us new information we didn't have at the beginning of this season (like Billy being romantically scorned by Bobbi in the distant past--and holy crap, that's Sherilyn Fenn from Twin Peaks).

    Also,
the return of William Hurt's Cooperman!
What a delight to be intrigued and fascinated by a great show again.

Give this season until episodes 3 or 4 at least, that's where it really starts to pick up with the intrigue IMO.

I didn’t enjoy this season as much, too many contrived plot twists and bizarre things happening. It does get more interesting from episode 6 on, and I thought Dennis Quaid was particularly good. Still not as good as previous seasons.

We just binge-watched over the weekend.:thumbsup:
One thing that's bugging me is that the creepy brother-sister relationship with the Blackwoods reminded me of some other show or movie in recent years where the main character was up against brother and sister villains who had a similar relationship, but I can't remember what show it was! :cussing: (And I should add it's not Gotham or any superhero-type show)

I loved this season. It’s a strange head trip. Nothing else like on tv.

The singer in the casino sure had a Twin Peaks Road House vibe.

Yeah, I’m getting a real Twin Peaks S3 vibe from that aspect.

David Cross’ appearance in the show in the “Not Poison” cover band was hilarious in this season’s Goliath. Was he reprising his character’s role from last season?

Reviews so far on Amazon (sort by date to get around the old reviews of the trailer) are vicious.

    Finished the season last night,

I thought the cast here were all pretty great. This show has veered off into soapy sensationalism a bit since season 2, and this installment is more of that. But S3 has better villains here than 2. I also like how they tied every antagonist together--Cooperman, Wyatt, Marisol, Wade and the Blackwoods here. It strains credulity just a bit that they're all working together, but gives the seasons a bit more of a unified feel. Thornton is great here as ever, and Quaid was pretty good too. And just when I thought that this season was going out "with a whimper" as the Gene character says at one point about the settlement, we get Billy getting shot by Diana. I wonder if there is the idea that they would end things here or if the show will come back for more.

If I'm being critical, some things were tied off a little too tidy this season (the daughter handing off the info to the LA Times which leads to Marisol Silva stepping down). When the plaintiffs get the money, it was little pat and condescending ("I've never had money"), and the scenes of the townsfolk dancing in the rain were silly. So they got big settlements, do they have water? Is everyone going to have to take their money and leave? I also wonder what happened to the other twin brother (the deaf one) as we don't seem to see him again after Diana drives them to the tunnel.

All in all, rather solid season and better than S2 overall. I do enjoy this show, probably the best series on Amazon Prime. I hope they keep it going.

    Season grade: B+

it’s clear to me that the 3rd is the last season. Thornton dies, gazing at his reflection in the puddle of water. The writing was on the wall.

They certainly tied up a lot of plot, and it would work well enough as an ending. Something tells me they will come back for one or two more, at least I hope they do.

6 episodes in. enjoying it, but not as much as season 2, which was wonderfully over the top. my wife almost gave up on it, but i've nagged her into at least sitting next to me while i watch it.

Watching Season 3. Three episodes in. I have mixed feeling so far. In particular, I could do without all the psychedelic/head trip scenes. Like the scene were Beau Bridges has that dancing after he smokes whatever it is he smokes. Entirely too long and doesn't move the story at all.

    But I'm still watching :)

It eventually moves away from that. I'm in ep. 7 and there's been virtually none of that now. Maybe starting with ep. 5 or so it turned more straightforward. But I've still over an hour to go. Anything could happen.

One thing that got kind of grating about this season:

It got hard to tell what was a surreal fantasy and what was really happening. Case in point, the part at the beginning of Ep 7, where Diana mauls her former friend with the farm machinery. The way they start out in the forest with the super long table and tons of chairs, just seemed like a fantasy or dream Diana was having. Then somehow her friend survives to hand over the audio recording of Wade raging about the side company?

I guess I can kinda see why some are crapping on this season, there was some slightly dumb stuff going on. I actually went to give the season a favorable review on Amazon and they have reviews for it locked down to "purchases only" due to what they think is "suspicious activity" on the site reviews for it.

I'm 3 episodes in and so far it emits a foul odor. Not nearly as compelling as the first two seasons in my opinion.
