That is the real artwork. I don't want to hear any of you guys complaining about the Dave's hipster doofus skeletons ever again.
Y'know, it's weirdly reminiscent of Fallout from the Phil Zone... but that's not to say it's not ugly.
Will end up getting Ready or Not, but is probably the least interesting Dead release of the year for me, aside from that RSD Dogfish Head compilation.
This has been an impressively diverse year in terms of the time periods covered. It's nice to see them really branching out and trying some new things. I dig the concept of Ready or Not, and look forward to picking that one up, even if I have pretty low expectations re: the content.
My Hampton Top 3 The Dark Star bustout (since 1984) - the crowd goes wild! Death Don't Have No Mercy - Jerry and Brent solos are incredible Feel Like A Stranger - how it's meant to be done Attics of My Life - wait that's 4! Another even more epic bustout (since 1972) and a sweet rendition - making a special night an immortal one.
I'm excited to buy Ready or Not, which will be just the 4th GD release I've bought in the last few years (Movie Soundtrack, Aoxomoxoa 2001, Aoxomoxoa 50th, and that one.) I might also get the Anthem 50th, and am probably in on the Workingman's Dead anniversary release too.
1974-09-10 Excellent so far, a top Half Step; best Peggy-O to date, probably; Fine BTW; and, one of the best China>Riders of the year I think, about which I had no idea, it's just cracking. Although the "Sun's gonna shine" verse is patched in from an appalling source...
The verbiage for the dead.net vinyl preorder makes it sound (to me) like it includes the hi-res download. What do y’all think? Looking for that Dead.netexclusive? We've got you covered with an exclusive colored vinyl version of the 2-LP set with one red LP and one blue LP, limited to just 2,000 copies. And we'll hit you with that hi-res digital audio too.
This show is essential listening. I haven't listened to it in years but I remember this as one where almost every song is an exceptional version. And that jam in the second set... whew... mandatory purchase.
Here's the version I've got - not sure if it's the best or not (Miller yes, Clugston, sometimes...) Transfer by Charlie Miller Mastered by Scott Clugston 10/24/2017 Playing selections now for the first time and I gotta say that low end is punchy as heck!
Truckin' basically ends around the 10:00 mark; the last 20+ minutes are more like Dark Star than Truckin', which is, in my mind, a good thing. There's a Spanish jam in there too.
So I'm catching up on my Dead downloading at the moment. There's a new Cassette Master upgrade to a 1987 show that I've got a great DAT version of. Both are the UltraMatrix by Charlie Miller. But the DAT version I have is from 2004. You guys think it's worth the download? In general, it doesn't really seem to matter if it's cassette or DAT in my experience (When it comes to high quality latter-era sbd's/matrices) Thoughts?
