If you have not heard the band play this song, do yourself a favor and listen.

I'm just trying to help, I feel like there's a huge audience waiting for him in the clubs of Christopher Street if he just made the right moves.

I think I was there but can't be sure, it was pretty dark and, well, wrong thread.

I do look forward to seeing him again.

Yes, take your tomfoolery over to the bluegrass thread. It’s much more liberal and welcoming, here in Stringsville it’s on topic or you’ll get the boot. We need to focus.

    Hey Dennis!

Can you reccommend me a couple of hot shows to stream on nugs?

The second night of port land he does the entire new album in the second set and it’s amazing. I think it’s September 27. Really every show after red rock is crazy good with the exception of the short festival set in California. I’d go right to the Tuesday in salt lake and move forward to now.

Also, Billy opened for Greensky On their winter tour this year. Each night he joined the band on stage for a couple songs and they were generally his songs. I was at the Columbus show and it was a great sit in and a great greensky show, the first set is just straight fire. The tour closer was about a week later in Detroit (billy and greensky are from Michigan) and I think it’s the second night that is crazy good. No set break just 2.5 hours of breakneck face melting. I’d recommend that as a must for your 30 day trial.

Portland first night(9/26) is up next. Just gotta finish with the Wilco show I'm listening to. The nugs thing is pretty good so far.

Has Billy recruited a fiddle player or is that a guest playing?

A bit "risky" having Billy as the opening act no? I think he's better than Greensky.

That said, a great double bill for the fans

Well...greensky pretty much just sold out three night at red rocks and up until this fall tour billy was playing bars to about 500 people and doing 60 minute festival sets mid day or late night. As a result he is now selling out clubs that hold about 1,500.

but to the point billy is better than greensky, apples and oranges for me. Greensky is a song band as their first priority, the instrumental sections are there to serve the song and they don’t overplay it. They do get weird and rage but it’s not their main thing. With Billy, his playing is the priority and the main attraction. The songs generally give him a platform to showcase his playing.

Also, Billy is much more of a traditional Bluegrass band. Greensky is more of a Rock Band playing bluegrass instruments with a very sensitive songwriter. Point being, I think Greensky will always be able to pull off a stage show for a larger crowd. It could work in a hockey arena, I’m not so sure a bunch of Doc Watson songs will get that done.
