It’s a fair point, but than again without the invention of air conditioning, places like Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio and Phoenix wouldn’t have grown into mega-cites either.

I mean Phoenix has a frickin’ NHL team and that place is hotter than Las Vegas by a fair bit.

You'll get no argument from me on these points, and an NHL team in Phoenix is also asinine. That said, y'all and the folks in Phoenix better get together and pray for more precipitation over the Colorado River drainage. And yes, I pray for precipitation all the time here in Santa Fe.

The official release of 27 August 1972, named "Sunshine Daydream," is a 3 CD set. I believe this is what Mr. Lathe recently shagged.

    Just a heads up:

When ol’ Lathe “shags” some more Grateful Dead music, he means that he downloaded more of it from the internet. As far as I know, he doesn’t do CDs and probably doesn’t even realize that the physical copy includes a DVD.

The real question is how much of it will he keep, and how big a font will he use in his announcement pertaining thereto.

It was a wetter than normal winter and spring, but the summer has been super dry. Or perhaps you were talking long term, not short?

Both. The long-term trends are not looking particularly happy for the Southwest in terms of moisture. Supposedly this is why there are abandoned dwellings in the area- periodic drought caused migration.

Any clue why Ready or Not is $20 for one cd?

The artists behind the super-awesome artwork demanded a piece of the sales for their fee. The price went up to compensate.

I mean I have Amazon Prime but someone ordering through dead.net would pay almost $29 with shipping and tax. Seems a bit much for one cd set.

For quality material like that, no price is too high.

If it doesn’t sell well, the price will drop. Then, later, if it sells out or goes out of print the price will skyrocket again.

The thing is, even at $20, it probably will sell. Completists have got to keep their collection complete, you know, or the OCD will flare out of control.

The sun belt in general shouldn’t have NHL teams, IMO. Move’em all (Arizona, Tampa, Florida, Dallas) back to Canada where they’ll be properly appreciated.

Dick's 2 (10/31/71) earlier this morning. It's no Ready or Not, but it's an awfully fine single disc of Grateful Dead music nonetheless.

Meanwhile, still on 10/16/74, was glad to get Row Jimmy out of the way on my drive to the gym, as it's not my ideal running song... but then up next was the 32-minute monster Playin' in the Band that closes the first disc of the GD Movie Soundtrack, followed by Seastones, so... it was an interesting way to get some sweat out.

I'm actually not done with Seastones yet, but I have to say it holds about as much interest for me as a post-hiatus Drums>Space, which is to say not much at all. I'm always curious to hear what happens next, and it's fun getting hints of the destination in the closing minutes of Space or whatever, but overall it's just not my thing.

Aside from Playin', the only other song from this show to have seen official release is the Scarlet Begonias I mentioned on Monday, which I just realized was a bonus track on the expanded Mars Hotel CD.
