I'd like to know more about the Hot Rats Book, eg is it music transcriptions, or a 'the making of...' biog. But the CD tracklisting and details look great.
The doors to the Zappa vault are really being thrown open these days.

Awesome. I’m amazed at how much archival product the Zappa estate is issuing in such a short period of time. At least this looks like a straight up music set without costumes and masks. Still it is a bit costly at $120 for six discs.

so i could get that 3 cd Orchestra set that came out like 2 or 3 months ago for less than $30, but now double the cd's from 3 to 6 and the price jumps up to $125??
am i missing something here? i don't need or want the book or shirt, just the 6 cd's. How is the 6 cd set the same ridiculous price as if you add the book and shirt ?

I wonder if it'll show up in the normal retail places at a lesser price like Meat Light & other releases did.

Didn't the original Orchestral Favorites page have something screwy and got taken down for a while before they fixed it and put it back up?

not really sure...i've gotten all of the newest zappa releases from amazon. but i just checked and got Orchestral Favorites 3 cd set for only $27.14.
For this 6 disc set, i'd think it would be no more than $60 at the max then....otherwise it's just price gouging

I see from the Zappa website the book is indeed a hardback job, all about the album.

    The Hot Rats Book Preorder

So that $125 bundle deal is pretty good, if not a mistake - getting the book and t-shirt free!
BUT... cheapest postage to the UK for the bundle: $85!!
(Never mind... but it was fun while it lasted...)

This looks like a very nice set for mega fans.

However, the price is pretty high, and making people pay for ephemera they don't want/need just to get the music on physical media sucks. (Not that the Zappas originated the process).
