Yes, I remember reading something about that, but I don't remember in what context. I think I have that one down to get...
4/27/69 One of my favorite things about these ‘69 Dark Stars is Mickey’s gong-work. Wonderful metallic universes unfold. Also, I had never seen this poster before. Nice. Wow, the part starting at 15:40 is special. Whew. Incredible. There’s another phenomenal section around 18:30 (which unfortunately sounds like it comes from Bear’s backup cassette source, but at least the music wasn’t lost). Update: Okay, so I’m at the 24-minute point of Dark Star now and I can say that the music after the 15-minute point has been amazing. It was an average Star up to that point, but then took off to the cosmos.
[regarding Dick's 2 (10/31/71)] *sigh... Okay, I found a guy who has a link to his HDD with ALL of Dick's Picks 1-36 I'm shagging them now... GEEZ, there go the rest of my Golden Years... Thanks a F'n LOT guys!
Wow, you are one SERIOUSLY dedicated guy... Now I don't feel quite as bad that I hafta listen to all 36 of Dick's Picks before I die...
Is that by any chance the one on the Stepin' Out Disc 1? The China is about 5:xx and Rider is about 7:xx
That should be on Dick's Picks 26. If I live long enough to get that far, I will make a point to listen to it! (assuming, of course, that I even live long enough for the damn 20 Gig download to finish!)
Yeah, well... I'm STILL not listening to ANY 'El Pasos'... I don't care if they are backed by Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, and come with top quality weed and 40 voluptuous naked women! Well...
This 2nd Lovelight from 4/27/69 is razor sharp and killer. They are smoking, period. The opening Lovelight had some unique jams, but meanders around a bit. This 2nd one is tight as a whistle and right in the pocket. It’s only 14 minutes too, so it shouldn’t test anyone’s patience. Excellent.
WOW! I just shagged the video of that performance, and I frigg'n LOVE how Jerry did NOT waste any time at all kicking in the lovely delay and effects. We're talk'n like literally maybe 20 secondes into it! YEAH BABY! I wonder if there is an official release of this? DAMN...! Yet another bloody decade to check out WILL IT EVERY END....???!!
Wow (again...) is the sound quality every GREAT on this one! (1989-10-09) Grateful Dead Live at Hampton Coliseum on 1989-10-09 : Free Borrow & Streaming : Internet Archive
I wonder why I cannot find that specific soundboard recording at Lossless Legs...? They have like about 12 other versions, but not the one streamed at Archive.org. Hmmm... I guess I can just DL the VBR stream like I've done before, but it would be nice to have it in Lossless. This one sounds SO damn good though, I don't even wanna chance any of the other ones at LL.
like the JFK 89 release, this just didn't come out right (compare Crimson White and Indigo Blow Away to the Blow Away on the expanded Built To Last)
Yes it is. The Star is incredible. Jerry just keeps going and going. The whole show is on a level with 28 February ‘69.
What’s the chances of another OOP box being available digitally this week? Or was the Warlocks box a random unexplainable event by dead.net?
RT 3.2 (11/14/71) -- calling how they get to MAMU out of The Other One a "transition" seems insufficient. Haven't listened to the 11/15 portion of this release yet, but I already prefer this to anything from 10/71 (the single-disc Dick's 2 from 10/31 excepted).
