So far tonight: Playing in the Band October '74. The 31 min version from the soundtrack. Killer! Another PitB right now: 73-06-22. 13 min shorter than the one above but it doesn't matter. Killer! Next: Dark Star>Morning Dew 73-10-19
I was waiting a long time for mine also. Yes once you pull it out of the box it is a stunner. Looks way more impressive than just the stock photos I've seen of it. You'll probably get your shipping notice later, I just got mine today, one day after receiving it.
Listened to Dicks 26 today, and just wow. This thing is a smoker, with the highlights being the second Eleven, where Jerry and Phil just about burn the place down, and the Lovelight you mention. The Dark Star is a beauty, never a dull moment like most of the Stars from the period I've heard. Simple as much of the organ playing is, I love T.C. in the shows from this period, and love Mickey's use of the cowbell. After listening to a bunch of '80's shows over the last couple of weeks, this one is a big time attitude adjuster. They certainly became more 'proficient' over the next few years, but never again would they have this kind of unbridled rawness and energy. Damn, I love this stuff.
In all transparency, you’ve been on the ignore list for a long time. I don’t know know why I keep clicking the “see ignored content” at the bottom of the page.
This is interesting, I didn't know Ramblin' Jack Elliot was connected with the Dead: The Last Folksinger
10/17/90 Essen is a testament to this....looks like nothings in particulars on paper, but the thing just smokes
