That BF set surprised me good! Never thought I'd live to see the day. Hearing Herman's Hermits in remixed stereo gives me goosebumps!
It is never to late to do that with other British artists. They where mostly recorded in stereo and released in mono.
I have quite a few "Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight" compact discs, and I simply adore them! I love the uptempo and fun side of vintage country music. Tapping my feet and smiling ear to ear as I listen to these releases, it's fun to hear and happily observe where much of rock 'n' roll got its humble beginnings. Granted R&R drew its influences from other genres of music, especially jumpin' blues, but IMO uptempo country played a huge part in its development too. Anyway, "Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight" righteously rocks! I don't simply own them, I cherish them!
Bear Family can release the Beatles HELP album in original stereo sound.Nobody has done that yet.If you are gonna get it with original stereo sound like it was released in 1965 you got a hard job to find it. It was released with original stereo sound on a wooden box released in Australia in late 80s/early 90s.Now an extremely rare collectrs CDbox.I am always searching for a HELP cd with the original stereo sound from 1965.Even the Beatles stereo box digitally remastered by George Martin did the sound wrong. Why not the original sound from 1965 and new remastered sound on same CD?
Yes it is.I did not know that. https://www.amazon.com/Beatles-Mono...beatles+mono+cd&qid=1570896610&s=music&sr=1-1
My belief is that Bear Family will never be able to obtain significant licensing for such artists as The Beatles, Elvis, Sinatra, etc
I preordered the new Fats Domino box set on Amazon.de today for an Order Total of EUR 144,73 (USD 165.96) It is currently: $256.49 on Amazon USA GBP 144.41 (USD 189.91) on Amazon UK
True. However, as they have proven with Herman’s Hermits, they can do a set and do it well. Why not British groups such as The Animals, Dave Clark Five, The Searchers, Gerry and The Pacemakers, Cilla Black, Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas, Manfred Mann, The Merseybeats, Peter and Gordon, Yardbirds, The Swinging Blue Jeans, etc. Or what about a killer multi disc box set covering the British Beat Boom from 1963-1966? Or a set focusing just on the Merseybeat groups from Liverpool. Or a Beat at the BEEB set covering groups at the BBC. Lots of possibilities and if anyone can do it right, it would be Bear Family. Here’s a great list of the most well known British beat groups of the era. Artists and groups featured in the British Beat Boom
Bear Family declined an offer from RCA/Sony to handle the Elvis reissue program (that job eventually went to Mr. Jorgensen). Richard Weize said, "I couldn't see myself dedicating ten years to an artist I don't like THAT much..." As for the British groups – Bear Family has just started a new series, "The Brits Are Rocking". Fingers crossed that it stretches up to the mid-60s.
It is too bad that BF did not do the Elvis program because the series on FTD ...Follow That Dream label... were all limited editions that went out of print quickly.
I discovered the FTD releases early in the year 1999.So i got them all.Vinyl releases are amazing. Elvis FTD vinyl site: ftd vinyl Here is a promotion video for a great release coming in the near future:
Trini Lopez rocks on this cd: Trini Lopez CD: Sinner Not A Saint - Complete King & DRA - Bear Family Records Trini Lopez - Rock On Trini Lopez - Here Comes Sally (Vinyl) Trini Lopez - Don't Treat Me That Way A great CD
Thanks for the heads up on the ‘The Brits Are Rocking’ series. The Tommy Steele and Billy Fury Discs look good. Hoping the cover some of the beat groups of the era.
My quest for a complete Roger Miller box set will never cease. Look at the genius in this composition. Great melody, and probably the best lyrics ever written......
