I've had this for a couple of months and been using it as a headphone amp (best I've heard). I just yesterday put it in my main system and have been listening to it as a preamp. If you can get along without a remote I can't see any reason to spend more than the $1300 this costs.

Tempted to try the VA-One? If it would work with your speakers.

Quad are making some great products at the moment, which do seem to stay under the radar a bit.

I have a VA-One in my hobby shop running my Proac Tablette 10's. Amazing midrange.

They certainly are if my Quad S2 speakers are anything to go by. Both SQ and fit and finish are excellent.

I recently added a Quad PA-One+ to my system as an headphone amp.

It mates beautifully with my Quad II Classic Integrated amp and ERA-1 headphones.

As you say, wonderful bit of kit.

No wonder you're smiling...that Quad II also has a smile on its face. :)

    Haha, yeah.

Nice thing, picked it up from a guy who had been given it as a review model at just over 50% cost of a new one. Had to have some resistors replaced at Quad and had the valves replaced at the same time. Suits my needs perfectly.

So the Quad PA1+ you can use as a linestage into another pre AND a standalone pre? Seems pretty versatile.
