If all Juggs had to do was look at every 45 in his collection, this thread would have ended years ago, LOL!

I imagine Tom Jones would still sound pretty good after a smoke.

    Tom Jones
    Daughter of Darkness/Tupelo Mississippi Flash
This reached #13 USA and #5 UK in 1970. That intro is pretty intriguing....like the opening of an espionage film. The 70's saw Tom explore a more pop/rock sound which this explores on the fine chorus. The verses have a little Penny Lane in them with the horns and bass being very similar in tone. This is a good one.

Can't Stop Loving You/Never Give Away Love
This peaked at #25 in the USA in 1970. A well crafted ballad with Tom in full on reminiscing mode. The strings are lush and the bass is busy...my kind of tune.

    She's a Lady/My Way
A #2 USA hit and a #13 UK hit in 1971. I LOVE this song!! Cool guitar, funky bass sweet backing vocals and Tom's vocalizing is killer! I love how he sings each line...."Take to Deeee-ner", "How to Pleeeeea-se Me" lol.

I worked in an office back in the mid 90's where the boss insisted on listening to the oldies station every day (it did win me lunch with Lionel Richie but that's another story!) That station played this song everyday....and the more we heard it, the more we grew to know every nuance of Tom's over the top vocal performance. Towards the end where Tom ab libs after every "She's a Lady", every person had an assigned part to sing. I always got the one where Tom starts off the "Woh Ooh Woh Ooh Woh" bit down low and he brings it all the way up to a resounding "She's a Lady". Awesome.

My favorite of Tom's next to "It's Not Unusual." "She's A Lady" is a perfect pop single with that atmospheric early-70s production. It's tailor-made to hear on a late-night AM station. Nice copy too, Juggs!

Lol. I've never liked She's A Lady. Not then, not now.

Daughter Of Darkness and Can't Stop Loving You on the other hand, are aces in my book.

I love 'em all! That office song along really took the song to a new level for me.

Come to think of it, I rank "She's A Lady" alongside "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" by Lou Rawls. Both are 70s Adult Contemporary pop perfection.

That's a great one too! I dig me some Lou Rawls. I listen to a lot of 70's R&B.

Apparently I didn't look very closely at the label when I took that photo! Duh. "My Way" on the B-Side, so a double dose of Anka!

    Tom Jones- Puppet Man/Every Mile
This hit #26 in the USA and #49 in the UK in 1971. "If you wanna see me do my thing, baby pull my string!. This is a fun one with Tom the humble servant singing over some power packed female backing vocals.

    Tom Jones- Till/One Day Soon
While only a minor #41 hit in the USA, this peaked at #2 in the UK in 1971. This song has been covered to death. It does have a nice melody, beautifully brought to life by the orchestra here.

    The Jones Girls
You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else/Who Can I Run To
This got to #38 in the USA in 1979 and is their only charted single. This great groove, written and produced by Gamble and Huff, hits you right from the intro. Cool bass and some funky synths. This is the only record I have by them, but it always makes me want to check out more of their music. I'm headed to the record store later today....maybe I get lucky.

Puppet Man had already been a hit the year before by The 5th Dimension so I never needed another version so soon. I'll stick with theirs. I love The Jones Girls. Their music is sorely underrated and most likely overshadowed by The Emotions and Chic at the time. And I'm not sure just how much Gamble/Huff had to do with this one since the label you show says otherwise. My personal favorite is the music they did with Dexter Wansel, Nights Over Egypt in particular.

Margie Joseph- Words (Are Impossible)/(Strange) I Still Love You
This reached a lowly #91 in the USA in 1974. Margie has a great voice and my Dad really liked her. I've heard this song many times and it never grows old to me.
