  1. Re Stan Getz

Yeah, awful artwork, and I'm not a fan of compilations. But it's 22:30, I'm tired and these versions of Detour Ahead, Moonlight in Vermont and more are just what my body and mind needed right now.

Is that the Johnny Smith - Stan Getz version`?

    Foggy morning, sh#tty night.

What better way to start the day than reading some old post.

    Here's one of my favorites:
PS: Lonson confirmed he meant "drums". Too late... history was already done :D

Yes, well I'm not ashamed to say I've done some drugs, though very rarely the prescription type. I've lived and learned.

Sometime I wish the "edit" function wasn't so limited!

Looks like rain moving out of the area here after a very wet Saturday. Glad I did some planting on Friday.

Currently listening to a meditative "Souvenance" by Anouar Brahem. A good way to start the morning.

Listening via Oppo PM-1 headphones and my Decware CSP3 preamplifier with 25th Anniversary mods while watching a cold wind blow through the wet autumn leaves on these beautiful trees here. Nice to be warm and dry.

It is interesting that two of the most influential jazz pianists, many would say the two MOST influential pianists, were named Earl.

One started the concept of the linear piano solo, taking the piano beyond simply rhythm in a band, and one brought that forward into modern jazz.

I would guess that they met back in the 1940's, but I've never seen a photograph of them together.

That's two posters who informed me about downloading, which I assume is without additional charge. That would make sense for mobile use. My audio sales person tells me he listened to a streamed album that sounded master tape quality from an HD platform. I don't have much interest in listening to a significant percentage of music by streaming. To me, streaming is commercial free pay radio where you are the programmer. You get the station's library, albeit with none of the documentation that accompanies the recording. And each 'station' requires a monthly fee of $10 to $20 depending on what quality audio you require. I wouldn't be using Amazon if I didn't have Prime already, it's there so it expands the library I have in my car. The logic of spending $50 to $100 monthly on streaming as opposed to CD's is understandable, and I also understand using streaming as an advertisement for recordings I might be interested in. Yeah, I'm down with the concept. It's not complicated.

As someone who's been in a recording studio I have to say that this is a pearl from Rudy with the white gloves.

Well, it's as ready for prime time as cellular telephony. I guess for folks who live in rural areas or something, cellular telephony isn't ready for prime time. Where I live, in the nation's most densely populated metro area, cellular telephony and data, and even public wifi connectivity, is pretty much ubiquitous -- we have cellular data connectivity in the subways now. It is extremely rare for me to encounter any kind of problem streaming even high res audio over cellular in a moving car. But there are momentary drop out. Like I know one spot on my drive to work in the morning were there's a mobile dead spot and if I have to be on a conference call in the morning I drive to work a different way. Both techs are I think well into "prime time" -- I mean Spotify alone has 100 million paid subscribers and cellphone penetration in the US is upwards of 80 percent. But yeah, I guess there are cellular deserts out there. But I guess much of the population is decently covered.
