That reminds me of the Bath store (still open). It used to be rock/pop CDs on the ground floor; soundtracks/classical/jazz CDs on the first floor and DVDs in the basement.

Today, DVDs / Blu Rays remain in the basement, but the ground floor is a mix of chart CDs; DVD box sets on special offer; tech (headphones etc); computer games and film merchandise.

The first floor now houses the rock amd pop CDs; in addition to vinyl; T Shirts and music related books. Gone are the days of a separate floor for classical / specialist CDs!

You may be right, though could it have been Virgin when they were still in the shop business way back that you are thinking of? They had little shops in some airports from memory, sure I remember one in Gatwick when waiting on flights to Orlando.

The thought of that these days would be alien to almost everyone, a shop in an airport selling mostly CD's, how quaint. ;)

There used to be an Our Price in Glasgow Airport just before you went through security. There was a Virgin store in Terminal 3 at Heathrow, and quite possibly in other Terminals too, cd stores in Airports was not uncommon in the 90's.

Ottawa Airport had a small Virgin store in it up until a few years ago.

Seems like HMV celebrated National Album Day yesterday by taking stock of loads of limited, coloured vinyl albums. Artists include U2, Elvis,Mike Oldfield, The Killers, Rainbow, Blondie and Tim Buckley plus some soundtracks.

Having HMV right across from work means I'm a fairly regular visitor, lol...always worth popping in to see if they have any cut-price goodies. Staff are great too.
Picked up Ry Cooder's Prodigal Son for £12 in the sale, and as a result of all my visits/buys now have a £50 discount voucher to spend instore :)
May wait for Kate Bush's remasters to spend it :)

Not sure if its been posted but I received an email regarding the old HMV loyalty scheme. Looks like you'll be able to use your points but only for a short while.

I've no local HMV so i'm not sure if its worth me doing but for some of you it might be worth looking into.

Yes, I also got one, but never paid much attention. I had no idea they were honouring the old points scheme. Good for them.

I also received the email. I had just over 150,000 points in my loyalty card, and had plans to redeem those points last December. Unfortunately HMV went down the day before i could do that, so i was unable to do it.

Under the previous scheme i would have received a £50 voucher for that amount of points. But i was disappointed to find they’re only worth £10 now.

I guess the new administration is under no obligation to honour the previous scheme and we should probably feel grateful for this one, which is only temporary while a whole new loyalty scheme starts at some point next year. Still disappointing though. I hope the new scheme is good because i’m not feeling very loyal at the moment.

Again...last week, had a look in at my local HMV, (Merry Hill Center, Dudley, West Midlands) and the vinyl section continues to grow whilst CD, DVD etc have to make way.

I’m signed up now and while it’s better than nothing of course I too am disappointed my £300+ is now around £55!
Moving forward that’s not going to work for me.

    peace and love✌Dave

That £300 is gone Dave. New HMV is not the old HMV and I'm amazed there's anything on offer.

Store gift cards/points are never as good as cash.
