10x10 now that's a really small room for khorns. I'd love to hear the K's in a much bigger room as they can pressurize this one with ease. But this room (11x18) will have to do because the thought of moving them again isn't something I care to do. These K's replaced a pair of vintage Bozak concert grands which were even bigger and ridiculously difficult to move.
Been working on the den/ tv room. Was always unsatisfied with this setup because my turntable was on a middle shelf and tv was above it. It was ergonomically less than ideal. Got a new tv and rack unit (inspired by this thread!) and am very pleased with the mounted tv + turntable set-up. My old VPI Classic feels reborn. Listening to a lot of records this last week, reveling in the ability to have a full view of that big platter spinning. I waited many years to do this. Wish I would have done it sooner. PS don't worry, all, I pull the speakers out for serious listening sessions
Thanks! Running psvane kt-88 grey bottles + nos ge 12ax7s and rca 12au7s I’ve picked up over the years. Really like the sound (and look) of the psvanes over the gold lions I used for many years.
Thanks. I concur. Inspired, if I recall, by your old setup! Since this doubles as a home theater, it’s a lot of fun to turn the sub up for movies too.
This deserves a double like!!! That cabinet with the sliding unit is so nice, a really great piece of design !
Nope. They are Resonant Woods platform stands. I’ve got two pairs of stands from Brooks and he does beautiful work.
Very nice set up. I have the same VPI Classic 1, but I don’t have the periphery ring. How big of an impact does it have on the overall sound?
Thanks! My perception is the ring adds depth and weight/ gravitas to the sound, which are qualities I love. I find I always use it. Hemmed and hawed about getting one for years given the price, but I’m happy with it. Also certainly helps out with warps!
lol all of the above (maybe time to join a support group?). I do have headphone amps in all my systems and enjoy different headphone amp/ combos depending on mood and genre from time to time. Headphones were my gateway into the hobby, but I mostly only listen to them these days when the house is asleep or I need to focus on a work project and want to eliminate distractions.
Still, you seem a bit like me, speakers first, room second. If I can make them fit, then somehow I will.
Outstanding! I have always been wanting a pair of Concert Grands, not that I have any where to put them either. That usually does not fail to deter me in my quest for vintage speakers. Since I am familiar with the K-Horns, I would be curious to how you would compare them? I have never heard nor seen Concert Grands in person, but they do look yummy!
