Hard to pick just one, but The "Prohibition Planet" Robby the robot won't be synthesizing any whiskey in that version. It just works on so many levels.
Is great having a robot that you can recycle between different movies. The Invisible Boy And others...
I like them both. But they are two totally different types of movies despite having a common thread running between them. ' Alien ' is sci-fi horror. ' Aliens ' is sci- fi action.
Alien was kind of like the Matrix, when it first came out. Very state of the art. My problems with Alien was that the first half was seriously excellent but by the second half, it became just another "bug" movie. Crew members wonder alone throughout the space freighter and the bug takes them out one by one. With Aliens, we know that there are real nasty bugs on LV-426, and we send in the marines and ... Lots of action. Better from beginning to end than Alien. Kink of like Starship troopers, we know who ant what we are fighting and they are a considerable enemy.
Me, too. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it just wasn't working for me and I was seeing some actors that I really don't like and didn't think belonged in any movie of this franchise. I'm sure eventually I will give it another go - it's pretty universally praised, I am sure it is good, it just struck me wrong on that first attempt
Yep, a fantastic movie I never tire of, and I like it better than the first one, but they are both great and essential viewing for every human being.
Probably Tarkovsky’s Solaris which always captures my imagination action on a philosophical level. If not that than Blade Runner or 2001, all perfect films IMO I left off Star Wars as I felt like it doesn’t count but come on, it’s a gateway drug. For recent films, Alex Garland’s Annihilation was really overlooked and excellent.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). Fantastic movie which hasn't lost it's power no matter how many times I've watched it.
Altered States & Invaders from Mars (with the sinking sands) and the original Blade Runner. Oh yes This Island Earth..
