Those 2 were ones I'm leaning towards. I also streamed Elvin Jones Genesis, based on a recommendation here, and really enjoyed that one. I also heard and really enjoyed Shades of Redd. To be fair, they're all bloody good!

Yep I take the point if they still hold stock of 45rpm they are unlikely to press at 33rpm SRX.
Personally I prefer 33rpm. I bought the complete set of SRX last time.
The problem is large cost for shipping to UK plus also chance of additional tax to pay as well.
I will wait a month or so in case they announce any SRX releases. If not I will probably pick 5 or 6 essential titles from what’s left of the 45rpm.

Thanks — just pulled the trigger on Elvin Jones' Genesis as there were only a handful of copies left!

I went on the Music Matters site a few days ago and found a few titles that I thought were OOP to be available. I snatched up Blue and Sentimental, two of the SRX titles - Solid and Blues Walk, and the Kenny Clarke Golden 8 on gold vinyl. I am itching to go back for some more and probably will when I hear the SRX records.

I've been streaming Jubilee Shout this morning and this has become a no brainier for me. Stellar tunes, just so soulful and bluesy. "You Said It" sounds like something off of Tina Brooks True Blue. And it has Kenny Burrell!

I've done some shuffling in my cart. Think I'm pretty settled on these.

    Golden 8
    Blue & Sentimental
    Jubilee Shout
    Free For All (SRX)

Now the debate is do I click order on this or get a used copy of Bill Evans Complete Riverside Recordings??? That's a huge purchase but I really want it. I can't justify more MMJs for a while if I spring for it.

    Choices!!!

Or I could just save my money lol. That's the responsible thing to do.

Cash out! That's a helluva list with some sure-to-become-extinct soon.

Evans, yeah tough call I suppose...I'm in the same boat over the Mosaic Herbie Nichols set. But how much trio can one man take! :yikes:

Thanks for the alert! I just ordered Golden 8 for $50. I was waiting for the price to come down (I think it had been hovering around $80 or so.) I also bought Horace Silver And The Jazz Messengers, since there are "only a few copies left!" These two will bring my MM up to 113 titles!

That one is excellent. And you can usually score a clean copy for around $60-70 if you are patient enough.

I've been going broke buying these albums this year but have learned once they sell out they don't always come back and then the only alternative is to lay down even more on ebay with tax also. I picked up the Golden 8 and also noticed the Stanley Turrentine with the 3 sounds is back in stock too.

My orders in just the last month: When I go hungry one of you guys will have to feed me on here to help with my MM Jazz Addiction

Kenny Clarke - The Golden 8
    Freddie Redd- Shades of Redd
    Grachan Moncur III- Evolution
Johnn Coles - Little Johnny C
    Sonny Rollins- Vol 1 SRX
    Dexter Gordon- Swingin Affair
Horace Parlan- Happy Frame of Mind
    Joe Henderson- Mode for Joe
    Johnny Griffin-Congregation
    Lee Morgan- Lee Way
    Lee Morgan- Indeed
    Lee Morgan - Tom Cat
Tina Brooks- Back to the track
    Tina Brooks - True Blue
    Dexter Gordon - Gettin' Around
Donald Byrd - Byrd in Hand
    Hank Mobley - Another Workout
    Lee Morgan - Vol 3

I dont know why we dont get some Herbie in either the TP or BN 80 series. I dont think Joe H ever hinted at these being possible releases.
I wonder if the tapes are rough

I found and picked up the MM 33 of Jackie McLean Right Now! in a local record store today — it's very rare I see any MM titles in the racks anywhere over here so I grabbed it fast!!!

I also got Dexter Gordon Go (MM is OOP) and Grant Green Grantstand on AP 45 too! The jackets are nowhere near the quality of the Music Matters titles but hopefully they sound just as good.

It was a good day :righton:

The APs sound great. People seem to overlook them somewhat.

Not me - I have all 50. For me the sonics are up there in most cases with the Music Matters titles, its just the sleeves that are poorer quality.

For anyone who was around when the AP and Music Matters series were announced you may remember that AP announced first and then they advertised the Music Matters titles in the AP catalog as "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"!

Have anyone seen if the photos used in the MM sleeves are for sale to frame and put up on the wall? They are so beautiful!
