Now that Liam's new album has come out, it's prompted me to do a ranking of all of the Oasis/High Flying Birds/Beady Eye/solo Liam albums.

    1. (What's the Story) Morning Glory
    2. Definitely Maybe
    3. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
    4. Why Me? Why Not.
    5. As You Were
    6. Who Built the Moon?
    7. Dig Out Your Soul
    8. Chasing Yesterday
    9. Don't Believe the Truth
    10. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants
    11. Be Here Now
    12. BE
    13. Different Gear, Still Speeding
    14. Heathen Chemistry

    How about you?

    3
    10

    Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds(4/5)
    Beady Eye(3/5)
    Why Me Why Not?(2.5/5)
The Man Who Built The Moon(2/5)

These are in order of my favorites, and what I rank them as. I am a huge Oasis fan but I just really can't stand Noel singing in any Oasis song. I like Noel's singing in his solo works, but in Oasis he is terrible. He ruins every song he sings in with his awful bland and vanilla voice. His voice works somewhat well outside Oasis, but coming in after a Liam track, it's like a kick in the nuts. I skip every song that he sings in.

(What's the Story?) Morning Glory? followed by Definitely Maybe. Wouldn't really be able to rank the others as behind that I'm mostly only familiar with the Oasis singles.

Some of Noel's earlier "solo" singles are good, but I'm not really a fan of Liam's solo stuff, be it on his own or with Beady Eye.

Not to be a douche, but the thread is about ranking all of Oasis/Gallagher albums.

  8. Greg Smith

Definitely Maybe (Classic and their best album)
The Masterplan ( Talk Tonight is a gem)
Morning Glory (classic, but weak songwriting in parts)
    Don’t Believe The Truth (Underrated)
Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants (Gas Panic my fave Oasis tune)
Dig Out Your Soul (great 1st half, weak 2nd)
Be Here Now (songs overlong, worst of all dull)
    Heathen Chemistry (weak)

I don't listen much to Oasis or their solo stuff these days but I was pretty big on them when I was at school/college.

    Definitely Maybe
    The Masterplan
    (What's The Story) Morning Glory
    Don't Believe The Truth
    Heathen Chemistry
    Be Here Now
    Dig Out Your Soul
Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants

I never understand the flack Heathen Chemistry gets. Decent album I reckon.

Dig Out Your Soul could have been good if they put Lord Don't Slow Me Down, The Boy With The Blues, and I Believe In All in place of the last three tracks.

1 Definitely Maybe (a fire spitting classic if ever there was one)
2 The Masterplan (Fade Away, Listen Up just B sides, but these are songs other bands would've killed for)
3 Dig Out Your Soul (very underrated imo, a rocky return to form)
4 Morning Glory (slightly overpraised, but anthemic)
5 Be Here Now (unfairly maligned, though could do with a remaster to get rid of the cokey production)
6 Heathen Chemistry (Oasis by numbers in places, marking time, though the first sign Liam could write)
7 Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants (the moment they became just another Britrock band)
    8 Don’t Believe The Truth (a stinker)

I would rate NGHFB's first two records between Morning Glory & Be Here Now. The last one I'd put between 5 and 6. The Beady Eye records would be below even Don’t Believe The Truth.

I usually listen to soundboard-recordings bootlegs/label releases (live gigs), but this is order I'd put studio's in:

    (What's The Story) Morning Glory
    Definitely Maybe
    Familiar To Millions
Heathen Chemistry (though having that hidden track annoys me)

    Be Here Now
Beady Eye - Different Gear, Still Speeding
Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants
    Dig Out Your Soul
    Don't Believe The Truth

The Masterplan (have the B's here on multiple bootlegs.)
Re: Solo stuff - gave away BE (tried multiple listens) & NFGHFB first release demo. I like Noel's voice as counterpart to Liam's & an occasional track...He does own Don't Look Back In Anger, though.
I like Liam's solo's, but there aren't enough bangers on either, for me. Doing more of the type material that's on DBTT. Also, liked his writing, along w/Gem & Andy's on DGSS. He doesn't trust his own writing enough; he'd improved greatly. Continuing in the Oasis tradition, holding back some of the best songs, releasing only on deluxe versions.

I'm a little surprised that the total Oasis/Liam/Noel output is only fourteen albums!

Without too much thought, this is pretty much same as mine. Might swap 11 & 8.
Love your placement of Standing. I’m sure we’re a very small group that loves that album, but I totally agree with ya. :righton:

For Oasis only, I like everything best in order of release but flip Dig Out Your Soul and Don't Believe The Truth

The only Noel album I really like is the first one; I prefer Different Gear and As You Were to their follow-ups, too.

At best, the only Oasis album any of the solo stuff can beat is Don't Believe The Truth, imho.

Heathen chemistry and don't believe.the truth are spotty as separate albums but combine the best tracks and it would be 3rd on my list.

The solo works and beady eye are mostly meh.
