Bands that survived the Grunge apocalypse?

For the old folks here.
Who' s your favorite bands/artists that released albums you thoroughly enjoyed, post '92?

I'll pick a few bands...
Deep Purple is the obvious winner; while Yes comes close, they did fumble it in recent years, and the Moody Blues obviously, didn't survive it.

Deep Purple: The Battle Rages On (1993), Purpendicular (1996), Bananas (2003), Now What?! (2013), InFinite (2017)

 

Black Sabbath certainly survived post '92, as did Marillion, Pink Floyd, and King Crimson. All released quality material, IMO, after grunge hit.

All. There wasn't a grunge apocalypse... or a punk annihilation for that matter.

 

There was no such thing as a grunge "apocalypse".

 

The three bands in bold all named grunge artists, such as Nirvana and Alice In Chains, as influential and/or inspirational.

 

Grunge did put an end to hair metal and took some spotlight away from Guns and Roses for a couple of years. After that, I'll need to hear more support what you mean by Apocolypse in this case.

 

Agreed. Grunge, I hate that phrase, put grit back into rock. Back to the basics.

They did get dropped from Atlantic, though, at the close of the apocalypse, but have obviously thrived since.

 

I think Motley would have thrived, had the Vince divorce never happened. Majority of Crue fans wouldn't have gone anywhere and there were millions of 'em.

Bon Jovi managed to adapt with the times after pop-metal died.

 

It was only apocalyptic for all the hair metal hacks for having zero substance.
Finally that got called out and the hair metal scene was finally kaput.

Gotta admit I did miss the guitar solos, but that was it.

 

Like in '77 when Queen said they were inspired by punk when they made 'News Of The World'?

I'll just settle for answering the question that was asked.

 

Sonic Youth.
