  1. 1. Pete Townshend | Empty Glass I love this one more than all The Who records put together. Yeah, I just said that.
    2. Craig Finn | Clear Heart Full Eyes
    3. Tom Tom Club (does that count?)

Laid Back is in my top twenty. Highway Call is in my top ten.

Side One of "Olias" is beyond magical to me. Few things in life equal it imo.

I would say no to that one, Porcupine Tree was Steven Wilson with a few hired hands when he needed them.

A relatively recent (and slightly obscure) one. John Jones from the Oysterband, first solo album Rising Road. The band are still together.

I like Smallcreeps Day by Mike Rutherford (Genesis) and Arcade by Patrick Simmons (Doobie Bros) too.

I'm going with Ken Henssley - Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf

The Rod Stewarts, Gregg Allman- Laid Back & Pete Townshend - Empty Glass also worth candidates.
All satisfy the rules without having to coerce the referee.

Doesn't "solo" mean an album credited to one person only or does the meaning of the word change from country to country (people have mentioned Paul& Linda, Tom Tom Club, Foo Fighters etc ) ?

Although I wouldn’t necessarily say this is my top choice (Laid Back by GA would probably be that) I love Horizontal Fall by Gerry Beckley of America.

    Another favorite:

    Bob Weir - Blue Mountain

Probably some of his earlier albums were mentioned above, especially Ace, which tends to be a Deadhead favorite, and I love those, too, but Blue Mountain was fantastic in my opinion.

Or - Does "Rough Mix" count? I know Ronnie Lane is co-credited, but Pete was still in the Who at the time.

Crimson had ceased to exist in 1974 and there was no indication that any re-formation was on the cards at the time that Exposure was released in 1979
