Exactly. Most people would agree. Even if they’ve come to terms with the sound and intent.

Ok, but I wouldn't regard that as a confirmation. Especially considering that waveform. However.... Maybe one day we'll have the answer.

Are you sure you have this right? I don't have the discs so I'll bow to you obviously, but I always had it that the 12", cassette and CD issues of that release used the mono mix, while the 7" singles used a fold down of the stereo.

I wouldn't belittle your own system like that.

Or did you finally do an upgrade?

I have both the 12" of All You Need Is Love and Hey Jude and listened before posting.

Seems so odd. This was the 20th anniversary release in 1987? I would guess the 1987 cassette, 7" black vinyl and picture disc would be the same?

I suppose they pulled their album masters for Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine, instead of using the new digital versions. Is there a list somewhere of the 20 year reissues of the UK singles and the mixes used? Did any use the digital masters?

Yes, however there is a sort of consensus that they were equalized in the 1960s to sound a certain way on common inexpensive record players contemporary at the time, and for AM radio airplay. That isn't what I would enjoy most today on my higher-fidelity audio system. Of course these things are all subjective within certain limits of perception, but I think most folks on this forum generally understand what I'm getting at when I say "best" sound quality vs. a period-vintage sound "authentic" reproduction, which is what these seem to be, also by consensus. All I can say in the end, is that I wish I could have the opportunity to hear direct playback of the Beatles' master tapes, on world-class equipment. Just once. What a glorious life-experience that would be.

Not sure if this will get this thread back on track. But I just purchased a 70's "World Records Singles Collection" in nice condition (box has some wear) from a reputable UK Beatles seller for a decent price. It'll be interesting to do a sound comparison between the 2019, 82' and 60's pressings......hopefully after the holidays!

The World Records TV box is from 1980. You won't be disappointed, other than it isn't complete.

Thought the World Records singles black box was 76-78? The WR LP "crate" box was 80' I believe.

  20. Neither beats my Longines Symphonette.

If Crosley did a reproduction of The Beatles 60's phonograph.......I might actually buy one........lol! Wonder if they'd keep the tubes intact?

I was playing my original Capitol single of AYNIL/BYARM single last night...that's the best I've ever heard either of those two songs on an original mix mono or stereo . I wonder if they sound as good in this new set...I'll know in about two weeks.

Well I have my set now for some time and do listen to it regularly. It certainly is not a hifi experience but many of these songs sound punchy in a way I have never heard them before.
They really make an emotional impact. I guess I now know what people with original 60s pressing mean by their 'exciting' sound.
    Love the new singles collection!

  24. I have no idea what you are talking about. Can people just use English and spell out the songs they mean?
