I thought the scene where Jack gets on his bike (before the electrical event) was nicely supported by some evocative Beatle-esque mellotron. Gave off a mysterious "something's up here" vibe and got the hair standing up on the back of my neck. I saw this a second time via streaming and I'm still not sure the seaside scene worked. I wish the moment at the door was longer, showing us more of how Jack gets his foot in the door of a perfect stranger's home. Wouldn't that moment be a profoundly moving experience for Jack (or anyone in his shoes)? That would have been a good challenge for the screenwriter.

I wouldn't think John would feel intimidated. Jack knew quite a bit about him anyway, enough to get invited in for a cuppa just to find what this was all about. I'm sure a lot more was filmed, and the editor cut all that out because it was unnecessary.

Just got the dvd from the library, lots of extras. Alternate ending, deleted scenes, more singing in abbey road studios.

I don't drink Pepsi either, but if forced to choose I would take Pepsi over Coke.

Enjoyed this film when it came out while on holiday in the US several months back. Loved the surprise cameo and Lily James was such a darling in this! :)

don't forget the drifter scene in Imagine (the documentary). John let a complete stranger in to eat, and in this case he (John) was extremely famous.

  10. It was an OK romcom with a twist, although certainly not one of Danny Boyle's major works.

It was far too 'Richard Curtis' for me I'm afraid :(

Big no from me. Other than saying “oh dont the Beatles have some nice songs and they can survive even these renditions” the rest was as boring and dumb as any network sitcom. The get everything for nothing off the shoulders of giants was quite unappealing.

At the most basic level, what about all the artists that covered Beatles songs on their LPs? What would their LPs be like in this world? That's not even getting into all the Beatles inspired music....

If you don't want to "listen (sic)" to complaints from others posters perhaps you should be the one to stay away from this thread.

Well, it worked for Peter & Gordon and Billy J. Kramer back in the 1960s, so maybe.

The idea of "skipping over the part about "how the world would be different if the Beatles hadn't existed" is very difficult, too difficult really.

Made $151 million US on a budget of $26 million. Using @Vidiot math, that works out for a profitable film (especially given that those lovable moptops got nearly half the budget for their tunes.)

I hated the premise at first, but when I watched it, I enjoyed it! It just took time for me to stop being a Beatles purist about the whole concept.
