Dave Clark Five All The Hits Coming 1/24/20

Discussion in 'Music Corner' started by Bill, Nov 12, 2019.

  1. I tend to agree with this. I have the two CD set. If all of the sappy ballads were removed, the remaining songs would fit on a 3" CD.

I agree. Many of my favorite DC5 tracks were not the hits. And as powerful as the mono versions are, the DC5 sounds magnificent in stereo. It adds some separation that allows one to appreciate some of the great vocal harmonies, as well as the interplay between guitar, bass, organ/piano, and saxophone. And there are some Dave Clark and Friends cuts that are pretty good, too, along with some less-than-spectacular ones. Quite a few songs from the UK albums "If Somebody Loves You" and "14 Titles" that never saw domestic release, along with singles and B-sides. Would love to hear "Won't You Be My Lady" and "Into Your Life" in stereo.

Wow. Strange. Kinda "For Once In My Life"-ish. And that Vox organ solo...ouch.
Who'd Dave have play drums on that :)

In an interview in the latest issue of Record Collector he is quoted as saying "everything will be coming out over the next year or so - all the albums, the whole catalogue, 20 or more, British and American records, as well as a box set. I've been remastering them all, at Abbey Road studios."

As much as I’d like to believe this: he’s been promising these re-releases for yers and years.

We, the people brought on it sure aren't getting any younger so I really hope he gets it out while we're on this planet.

There are two Amazon US links with different ship dates. One is less expensive than the other, here is the cheap one:

Agree and also no Your Turn To Cry....this looks lame. You'd be better off vinyl wise to seek out nice condition original mono copies up to 5X5 or there abouts.

I wish they would do remixes, as I much prefer stereo. I have History which is all I need.

And finally, all the Oldies radio stations in the country perk-up, and say, "finally - now we can-"...before everybody looks around and mutter, "hey...where'd all the oldies stations go..."

I don't understand why they never released Into Your Life as a single. It's very Badfingerish" In a good way. So much more a single than "Satisfied With You" that came off as boorish. And I'm a DC5 fan. :)

If you look carefully, most sites have the vinyl with 16 tracks, not 28. Seems confusing since the announcements says 28 tracks, 2LP, not 1LP 16 tracks. Is there, is there not a lame 16 track 1LP version....hmmm

Yes. Need to be careful. I just ordered it from amazon.co.uk so there is no room for error.

More like about twenty years after he's been forgotten.

Talk about missing the CD reissue train.

Pre-ordered the 2 LP. Still have my 1964 Glad All Over LP so curious to compare, especially Do You Love Me - could be quite explosive.
