Public domain but crap. Since they have no access to master tapes all their vinyl is mastered from cd or records.

  2. Being "legal" is not the issue. This is about maintaining (or dropping) standards like sound quality and packaging - "public domain" can usually be spotted by the way they package their releases. Anything under the "public domain" (aka "rip-off") banner has been "copied" (or in my opinion "pirated") from unknown sources - and that's as good a reason as any for me to actively avoid buying or having anything to do with the cheap and dodgy "public domain" outfits.

Concerning Dr John - this budget 5CD box is not only authentic and sourced from genuine masters but it is reasonably well priced into the bargain.

We know, you’ve posted it often enough and it’s boring.....

People have the choice to buy them or not.

At least I am doing people who might not be aware a service.

If they choose to buy anyway it's their money.

There have been plenty of non public domain releases that have crap sound released, yes I’m looking at you bonus discs on expensive box sets......

I have never anywhere stated that I buy PD releases, I probably have less than 20 in my collection, but they are not illegal, despite claims on here, and there is obviously a market for them, there can be very very few people on this forum, and especially these threads, who don’t know what a PD release is,

This one is very tempting. Being a live album, and whatever source it is from, I wonder how the sound quality it (and the performance...) I really like Bonamassa, I have like 2o or 30 or his albums in FLAC, but nothing on vinyl yet...

Amazon are now defaulting to a more expensive marketplace seller BUT if you click through to the list of all sellers Amazon are still offering the £12.99 price!

Cool. And when you are outside UK you get the added discount of VAT removal which then subsidises the shipping :)

Ah... Not to show my ignorance, but to show my ignorance, not being really familiar with Deep Purple I did not realize that (I'm guessing) the Coverdale mentioned in this group is the same one that made at least one album with Jimmy Page which I have. I've had that album forever, but I never knew who that Coverdale was (I think the album has something like an altered 'Yield' sign ['Give Way' for you more proper Brits - I actually have one of those official signs from an Anglophile friend who visited the UK many years ago] on the cover. IIRC, it's pretty good and one of the few non Zeppelin Page albums.

David Coverdale is probably better known as lead singer of Whitesnake. He replaced Ian Gillan as vocalist in Deep Purple, and along with new Bassist Glenn Hughes led Purple in a more soulful direction. Richie Blackmore left soon after. I think this Paris concert was his last one as guitarist with Purple.
