And pretty good as well. Actors that stood out Colin Farrell, Charlie Hunnam, Hugh Grant. My Guy Ritchie list. 1 Snatch 2 Lock Stock 3 Rock n rolla 4 Revolver 5 The Gentlemen Don’t care for his other films.
Just saw 'The Gentlemen', which appears to owe a lot to Tarantino in that it has a non-linear story and a lot of dialogue - and I do mean a lot. The violence is in there and the acting suits the story, although whether it was 'entertaining', I'm not sure. I enjoyed Guy's film of 'The Man From UNCLE', as well as 'Rock N Rolla', so I may be coming from a different place. Maybe Guy just likes going back to London every so often, as he has with 'The Gentlemen'.
The Gentlemen? Assault on The Block meets Rock n rolla ( it wishes ). Still it has its moments 7/10. Seen three films over the weekend I would give 1917 9/10 The worst being JoJo Rabbit a few amusing bits( Stephen Merchant) good period garb.....but ultimately I found it boring.
How’s Jeremy Strong in Gentlemen? He would have been my choice over Brian Cox for Succession’s Golden Globe nomination.
He’s ok, not a large part. Dvd will suffice. Or download / stream. The first 30 minuets is very talky ( Hugh Grant ) but thankfully got better. I’ll definitely get the dvd watchable a second time. More looking forward to GR next film 2020 with Jason Statham Cash Truck. Aside ...seen the new JamesBond trailer( before main feature The Gentlemen ).. not shaken or strirred.
Hope so. I liked Revolver ( think I was the only one ). Problem with CashTruck is its an American based film so I don’t expect a Lock Stock/Snatch which Jason excels at in cockney mode. Cash Truck; looking to be more a crime / action heist film ..ala Heat!!!!
I really liked Revolver. Probably seen 5 times. No matter how many times you see it, it’s still hard to figure out.
I saw his new film The Gentlemen tonight. I thought it was super fun. Maybe not Snatch good, but probably one of his better recent films. Though I should say, it's a little more complex than the trailer might suggest as there's a few different stories, or perspectives, happening at once. So maybe be aware of that going in.
It is! My favorite was Colin Farrell, who was a hoot, but Hugh Grant is really amazing in his role as a shady conman.
I’d imagine The Gentlemen should do quite well in the US, what with an American actor in the lead role.
Tarantino. It’s a spec script for his new series... if I don’t shoot it. I’d prefer to shoot it. I’ll send you the first 20’pages if you want to look.
