    =====================================

    Depeche Mode
    The Doobie Bros
    Whitney Houston
    Nine Inch Nails
    The Notorious BIG
    T Rex

I was pulling for Judas Priest and Thin Lizzy and disappointed they didn’t make it.

    Let the arguments begin...

Nice to see the Rex get the hobnobble nod.

Will be interesting to see if it's the duo or the quartet or both. Hopefully both.

Not much of a class. Whitney surely deserves it and it is nice timing for Doobie Brothers to get the nod the summer they are touring with all 3 front men - McDonald, Johnston and Simmons - in the lineup.

What was the last time (if ever) theyball toured together?

Hope Baxter makes an appearance (at least at the HOF show, if not for the tour).

Bummer about Rundgren again not getting the nod.

Johnston, Simmons & McDonald all three toured together in 1995, co-headlining with Steve Miller.

Nothing says rock n roll like Whitney Houston.

Glad T. Rex finally got in.

Hooray for T. Rex! It's about time. It'll be cool seeing Rolan Bolan up there accepting the award (I assume).

Love Whitney Houston, but just like Madonna and Janet Jackson, i wonder if she is suitable for this format. Then again, what makes Depeche MOde rock. They are synth new wave and their music has no basis in the Chuck Berry based rock n roll. Don't get me wrong . i LOVE depeche mode and thikn they are worthy. But it does make me wonder how we classify music as rock.

HOW IN THE HELL ARE SMASHING PUMPKINS not in there? I love NIN too. But Smashing Pumpkins >> NIN.
Weezer should get in just based on their first two albums. No Doubt to me is worthy.
SMiths ???? how the hell are they not in?
    Squeeze ?????

If Bon JOvi inexplicably got in, then Def Leppardm inspite of their lame output after 1988, and Motley Crue deserve it .

    T. Rex is the only one of this I really like.....but congrats to all.

Stop putting The MC5 on the ballot every year if they're not going to ever go in. :realmad:

Motorhead should've gone in as well.

Flabbergasted that Todd Rundgren keeps getting passed over. There has to be a back story there.
And of course ridiculous King Crimson not in, proof that the HOF doesn't understand progressive rock and KC's vast influence.
    No Kansas, no Supertramp. Absurd.

Good for the Doobie Bros, and finally good timing with an older band like that.

Shocked that Dave Matthews Band didn't get in on their first try, but maybe they are trying to catch up with older bands overlooked.

The big news about this is that the fan vote was ignored and winner Dave Matthews was passed over.
Pretty significant and seems to make the fan vote nothing but a gesture.
    Also Benatar being overlooked.
T Rex was a surprise, considering Todd Rundgren, Benatar, soundgarden, was on list.

The Doobies, Depeche and TRex I understand getting the nod, but the others .

Depeche Mode are certainly rock. In much the same vain as The Cure and The Smiths. A little darker and synthier than some. What makes them HOF worthy is their sphere of influence. For instance, there is no NIN w/out DM.
Whitney Houston getting in over several acts on this ballot is a joke.

Very happy to see T. Rex, Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode, but the lack of Priest, Soundgarden, Motorhead and Pat Benatar is BS.

IMO Kraftwerk should be in before Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails based on seniority and influence on them. But they need to sell tickets for the ceremony at an arena so that’s why they pick certain artists.
Judas Priest will get in after Glen Tipton and Rob Halford pass away which will probably be the sad reality.

Yeah. I'm shocked too. Lemmy has always said "We are Motorhead and we play ROCK AND ROLL!" before every show for the past 20 years.

Yeah, it's rock and roll. Three times faster and louder than everybody else, but still rock and roll.

What exactly are you boycotting? Watching the ceremony? Visiting the Rock HOF? Buying Rolling Stone?

PS--Greg Kihn Band is never getting in.
