I feel terrible in being negative, however, we should all be ordering as little as possible from amazon until they stop geoblocking us!!

 

Has the geoblocking made that much difference? I usually check all over the amazon universe for comparisons and I don't remember any, say, UK offerings that have been markedly cheaper

 

It has made a huge difference to product availability and price, as if you want to get something that Amazon Oz doesn't stock (including recent box sets by big-name artists such as Bowie and Freddie Mercury) your only option is Amazon USA, which is often more expensive than say Amazon UK or France who we can't order from. Does anyone remember the time that Amazon UK offered free postage to Australia if you spent over a certain amount (I think £30)? I got some great stuff!

But I agree that Amazon Oz is often great from older titles that they have in stock - just never bother pre-ordering anything new from them!

 

But if amazon oz doesn't have it immediately then it usually does later. Take Teenage Snuff Movie , its not on Amazon oz but it is on amazon us, so I do a preorder there and wait for it to appear on amazon oz. Most but not always its cheaper from here. And when they go mad we reap the rewards, like the Kinks box sets of late.

 

I find many smaller uk/European releases are not available on Amazon AU and are very expensive on amazon us. The easiest example is the non music, 3d Blu ray titles. They are Europe only so not available at jb hifi and now, because of geoblocking they are not available on amazon (unless you are prepared to pay twice rep). My Generation X self titled lp took over 3 months from release date to arrive via amazon USA ordered via amazon au.
I am from the uk originally and that maybe why I find that they have many things I have an interest in on amazon uk but not available on the us or au sites. I buy half the amount I used to from amazon because they are blatantly geoblocking us (AU and nz) and hiding behind the “gst is too hard” excuse. No other region is geoblocked as far as I am aware!?

It really could be taken as racist against Australians and New Zealanders! As you can see I’m quite passionate about it and amazon are not my favourite company!

 

Apparently the rest of the world is blocked from us! I have friends in Japan and the US who cant buy from amazon oz to take advantage of our exchange rate
