Definitely for his work in Breaking Bad.

  2. ahh, Brad Pitt can act. I'll allow that he would have been badly miscast in the part of Kurtz, in Little Drummer Girl. But The Tree Of Life showed that he can step outside of his usual charming bad-boy wheelhouse and deliver a compelling performance in a challenging role.

Pitt was good in Fury, too. Logan Lerman was also real good in that one. Fury was better than I had expected. A cut or two above the usual run of war movies. It didn't skimp on showing the tragedy of warfare. Gave a good illustration of how someone might end up with combat-related PTSD.

I watched A River Runs Through It again, a couple of weeks ago. Pitt's first big role. What can I say? I thought he did a good job in that, too.

One that hasn't been mentioned yet is Oscar Isaac. He's madd some bad choices in recent years 'X-Men' 'The Addams Family' but he's extraordinary in things like 'Show Me A Hero' 'Inside Llewyn Davis' and 'A Most Violent Year'.

I've no opinion on best other than who's my favorite: Gael Garcia Bernal.

Jonah Hill doesn’t get enough credit. He’s turned in some great great performances, with range.

He stole Wolf of Wall Street
    Money Ball
This is the End he’s absolutely hilarious in

    Phillip Seymour Hoffman tragic loss

Michael Shannon has to be the most intense actor working today. Shades of Klaus Kinski there. I can see why Werner Herzog has cast him.

Tree Of Life was a brilliant film. Then again, I enjoyed To The Wonder and Ben Affleck is arguably less capable than Pitt. Pitt isn't bad enough to ruin a good movie but he's just a pretty face that gets away with 'acting'.

Good shout. He was utterly menacing in Tyrannosaur and brilliant in Happy-Go-Lucky!

    Don't be.

I'd be too old to know or care anyway.

    So will you, most likely.

    I'm sure you mean "bail."

Unless the boat is sinking, what's the point in that?

Good call. I was blown away by his performances in Inside Llewyn Davis and Ex Machina.

He played a sick puppy in Boardwalk Empire, but eventually the character got his just deserts. Yeah, he did a good job with it; haven't seen him in anything else noteworthy.

Even more depth shown when you consider Cranston's comedic talents. He was the 'star' of Malcom In The Middle for me.
