I have one, sorry it's not available to me at the moment, pressed in the early 80's. I think it's a CRC (Columbia Record Club) pressing. Anyway, avoid it. It's pretty lifeless. My other two cd pressings smoke it.

Probably the recent half speed mastering done at Abbey Road Studios. I’ve heard good things about The Police vinyl reissues.

US A&M have 'letter's indicating which plant was used for manufacturing.
    I have a Y=Terre Haute, which I enjoy.
    X=Pitman
    Z-Santa Maria
    R-Indianapolis
    A-Monarch
B-Electrosound, they liked to use translucent- AMEX or QUIEX
I'd try to search out a West cut.
    Santa/Electrosound/Monarch
    I don't trust Mile's 1/2 Speeds.

It's easy, get an original U.S. pressing from the early 80s and call it a day. They are not expensive and are not hard to find.

The CRC I had referenced is a vinyl issue.

My local had a B label, excellent condition so I picked it up tonight.
So, some B's may not exactly be a full Electrosound or not at all it looks like.
Possible they used Monarch's plates, not sure.

I have the same Monarch of Zenyatta. I haven't listened to it in a while considering I bought it about 6 or 7 years ago. But, I remember it being a nice sounding disc.

And... yes, ElectroSound often used translucent vinyl, but so did RCA quite often in the late 70s and 80s. I have an RCA Indy pressed copy of Regatta that's translucent.

My ElectroSound copy of Outlandos is also translucent. And, if I remember right, Monarch was ultimately bought out by ElectroSound. So sometimes, they used Monarch plates for repressing.

Thanks Mick for the info, appreciated!. Yep I have quite a few Electro's and A&M/RCA translucent's.
As for the plates, makes complete sense that this is probably what I have, a keeper for sure- nice black background. :)

My favorite vinyl pressing of Zenyatta is the one that just came in the recent box set imo half speed mastering done at Abbey Road Studios

I have an R right now that is decent. A bit sharp on tge higher end, but decent. I used to have a Monarch, and it was more balanced, so I guess Monarch is the one. ZM is the only Police album I don't have an original Quiex for, I need to fix that. I wouldn't part with my yellow cover Quiex Outlandos for anything, it is the best I have ever heard that album.

Any idea if the half-speed masters from the box set will get individual re-issues?

Ghost in the Machine(Half Speed Mastering) was actually released about a year prior to the release of the Box Set for some reason. Maybe, at the time the Box Set was not in the plans to be released so soon after the Individual Release for GITM, but no idea, as recall at the time, that I was hoping the other Albums would get an Individual Release, but then not necessary when the Box Set was released.

Wouldn’t a UK pressing be the best way to go for this album?

I saw the Police several times live in London pubs and clubs in the late 70s as they were coming up. Over here in the UK, you can still pick up a near mint original of Zenyatta for under $10 plus postage. Lots of market choice. Seems a sensible way forward to me. I don’t know whether UK pressings are better than US ones, but I have UK bought originals of the main four or five albums from back in the day and like the sound of them all. There seems to be a lot of love on this Forum for Syncronicity especially in the great sounding vinyl threads.
