whats the best Van Morrison album from the 90s. I’m going to include everything where Van is a main contributor so this includes the 2 Them albums, the collaboration albums and the live releases.

Come back tomorrow for Best Of The 00s Poll!

I picked the Mose Allison covers disc because I thought Van lost his muse years ago. And he does a nice job covering Mose's songs.

I've only heard The Healing Game from the list, but was pleasantly surprised at how good it is, some of that 70's vibe back again. As such I will give it my poll vote.

Enlightenment and Hymns marked the end of a great era.
Later 90s albums were more workmanlike but The Healing Game is a standout.
    I voted for Hymns.

I have these 90's Van Morrison albums; Days Like This, How Long Has This Been Going On, The Healing Game, Back On Top.

I like them all for different reasons, "How Long" is good but, it has an odd vibe (kinda cover, live thing). I do really like the other three albums (Days, Healing, On Top) I play those the most but, the one I never skip around on and play all the way through is, Back On Top, so that's my pick! .... (I guess I'm out there on an Island!)

I went with Hymns by a nose over Enlightenment. On Hyndford Street is one of my all-time favorite Van songs. Transcendent.

Not a fan of his '90s albums, I generally listen to a compilation I made of the highlights.

Too Long in Exile is the one I enjoy most listening to start-to-finish, but it's still a strange choice because honestly nothing sticks out as a highlight of the decade. But as albums go, if I had to sit down for 40-80 minutes of unbroken listening, that would be the one.

I would say all the 90s albums are patchy, but there are still great moments scattered about.. All of side one of Enlightenment is pure gold IMHO (hence my vote), but side two is kind of iffy. You could definitely make a nice highlights compilation which places the 90s ahead of the decades that follow. . .

I chose Hymns by a whisker over Healing, but ask me again 5 minutes from now and it might be reversed.

I voted for Enlightenment. It's the last Van album that holds up end to end.

    Hymns to the Silence
has a lot to offer, but is a bit overstuffed. Remove a few tracks and it's on par with Enlightenment.

The Healing Game gets a lot of love, and for good reason. But I can't abide Brian Kennedy, so that's a pass.

    Healing Game for me.

I might be a minority here, but the "Brian Kennedy albums" are my favourite Van Morrison of the last 30 years or so.

It's easier to decide this one - Hymns to the Silence gets my vote. One of my favourite Van albums with loads to explore. I like Enlightenment too so that would be my second choice, but Too Long in Exile didn't really work for me as a whole. I don't really like A Night in San Francisco (Shhh! I prefer Pagan Streams as a live album from this decade). The others have all got something to recommend them and each one has some standout songs, but maybe a bit of repetition (musical and lyrical) is setting in on the lesser tracks from the late 90s. I put on How Long Has This Been Going On when I want something upbeat and jazzy, so that gets quite a lot of plays and would probably be third.

This was so hard. I decided to go with the one I play the most--Back on Top--but that's more for feel than quality of the songs. I honestly don't know which one is the best. Enlightenment, Hymns, and Healing could also be contenders.

Definitely a step down from the 80s. I think the second disc of Hymns to the Silence is his single best 90s album, so I'll go with that!

Brian Kennedy spoils anything on which he appears (which he appears).
