Thanks for the info! I see that it will also be available on vinyl, but not until May (but also includes digital download). Once I hear the whole thing I'll decide if I need this on vinyl too.

His other band, Devil's Force, sounds even more like old school Bathory, and covered them too. Sounds great!

EDIT: Whoops, the guy responsible for Devil's Force is actually vocalist/lyricist for only two of the songs on the new Kvaen album, not the whole thing. Still, great vocalist!

There are a couple of songs like this which are okay but then switch gears and are elevated significantly.

"the album will be called Torn Arteries. He revealed the title during an interview with Australia's Heavy, which was taken from a demo tape recorded by founding drummer Ken Owen when he was a teenager."
CARCASS Reveal Title Of New Album; August 2020 Release Date Confirmed

"It’s always difficult trying to decide what new song to expose people to, especially given an absence of nearly seven years???? With that in mind here’s a slow throw away number we cobbled together, and NO the title was NOT plagiarized from the DISORDER album of the same title before you ask!" – Jeff Walker

I'm still listening to this. At the end of the year I think this will remain the best album of the year. Songs 1 -6 are stellar (4 is a dip) and with a downturn at 7-8.
Despite just missing being perfect, 5 it is.

    Tracklist:
    1. Revenge By Fire 00:00
    2. Yee Naaldlooshii 06:18
    3. The Funeral Pyre 10:51
    4. Septem Peccata Mortalia 17:36
    5. The Wolves Throne 21:51
    6. As We Serve The Masters Plan 28:23
    7. Bestial Winter 34:14
    8. Hymn To Kvaenland 40:44

I've been listening to this all weekend, fantastic album! Side one is near perfect, and oh my god, Revenge by Fire is a hell of an opener, holy cow that riff at the beginning. Side two slows down a bit and is kind of a grower, but still very solid. Melodic black metal with a throwback thrash feel in parts, lots of Bathory and Storm of the Light's Bane era Dissection feel IMO, which is nothing but a good thing! Great vocals, great guitar sound, great solos. I've ordered the vinyl (have a bit of a wait for it, but at least I have the digital version to tide me over.

I'll be at work or outside and completely involuntarily one song or another will be playing in my head. "and so they sailed towards the southern shores" A most troublesome catchiness! I saw at Angry Metal Guy they gave the album 4.0/5.0 so we aren't nuts after all. Kvaen - The Funeral Pyre Review | Angry Metal Guy I'm envious of the vinyl you're getting. :righton:

Whatever it is playing during the end credits is what I liked most (not including the auto-buy Temple of Void). I think it's the unpronounceable band featured last. Yep...Krupinské Ohne, by Malokarpatan and it's the one available song.

Yeah, lots of earworms on this album, lots of their stuff has been playing in my head too. Along with Angry Metal Guy, this album has so far been getting universally positive reviews.

I recently fell down the Finnish metal rabbit hole, and one band that I really like is Vorna, kind of a black/folk/pagan/atmospheric metal band. Sometimes they seem all over the place genre-wise, but it totally works. Mostly black metal vocals and cleans, song titles and lyrics in Finnish. Their latest album from last year, Sateet Palata Saavat, is fantastic IMO. Here's a lyric video from it:

Taking a double shot of Aborted. I like exactly two songs on this album. I don't get on with the earlier albums either. That's fine. Coincidentally the initials of each song is VD. Can't find a vintage (?) era cartoon of venereal disease so the 60's Rat Fink will do.

I like the increasingly emotional vocal

A palate cleanse perhaps. Some odd duck, chill, industrial trance dance BM. I thought it noteworthy and not bad for what it is.
