I have a couple dozen CD long boxes, with band/album artwork from "back in the day"...is there a buyer's market for these? I'm not looking to put my kids thru college or anything ridiculous...just looking to rid myself of clutter, and would love forum friends to get a hold, again, if there's interest...Thoughts?

I can only think of one use for them. Cutting them up for the larger image on the front, to slip in the jewel box in front of the standard book, but only if it looks better. I used to do that in the '80s, particularly when the box was a good image that fit, and the book was one of those generic art jobs you would see on a lot of midline discs.

Thanks - there seems to be some interest...been years since I've sold on ebay (so much hassle)...may just try and sell in bulk here...in the process of moving (which is why I came across them in the first place)...I'll see what happens once I land in a new home...

There's definitely a market for them. Obviously the longbox+CD goes for more money than just the longbox. But I've seen naked longboxes sell for $10-$30 depending on the title.

I saved all mine and expect the Pink Floyd and Beatles to be of some interest. Shrink wrap is around them still. All mint condition neatly on a shelf in storage room. I guess it's time to list a dozen on ebay and see what happens.

My experience will likely be quite different, as I suspect my "collection" is more comprised of stranger, less iconic bands or titles...

often the more obscure the better with these things, sold a set of Meat Puppets boxes several years ago for a good sum!

I have a factory-sealed copy of Sgt. Peppers in the longbox with that unique artwork added. I've always wondered if that had any value.

That's likely to be very good news in terms of value :)

Worth checking sold auctions on eBay and Discogs. I had a sealed Sinatra at the Sands long box. Got $10 for it. Hope you fair better should you choose to sell. :)

I have had luck selling old CD longboxes on eBay. They don't sell for hundreds, but they sell. Do make very clear in your ad that the product is the longbox only and does not include the CD.

My first CD was Prince "Around The World In A Day".
It came in a weird 'wrap-around' long-box, with the CD in a mini-LP cover.
I still have it, and have never seen it up on eBay....
Anybody know about THIS particular item?
