3 off the top of my head... 1.Wonderwall (1968)...Jack MacGowan is superb as the love addicted older professor 2.Greasers Palace (1971)...Alan Arbus portrays a zoot suited messiah who lands in the Old West in this 1971 underground dark cult comedy 3.Liquid Sky (1983)...a stylish NYC fashion industry film the revolves around aliens, smack & the NYC modeling business 4.Freaks (1932)....Tod Brownings tale of murder & deceit in a traveling circus made all the more creepy with the use of real circus freaks... This is where the Ramones lifted their line "gabba gabba hey" 5.Belly (1998)....a hard brutal tale of drugs & gang life with a young now excommunicated Hollywood actor DMX as the central figure
"Fluke". Strange and sad story of a man who dies and then inhabits the soul of a dog adopted by his widow. He spends the whole movie trying to convince the wife that it's really him. Very strange and affecting movie.
A few have seen but I love Phase IV Nd wish we would get the UK release here as it has the original ending and extras. The current Blu ray is bare bones.
Haiku Tunnel (2001) - A great office comedy Robot Carnival (1987) - An anime featuring several segments with the common element that each features robots in some form Gall Force - Eternal Story (1986) - A very fast-moving science fiction anime (they put 120 minutes of story into a 90 minute movie).
minnie and moskowitz (1971) One of many Cassevettes excellent movies with his usual troup. This one is a particular favourite from his brilliant catalogue
Preston Sturges' "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek." Sturges was able to get things past the censor much like Ernst Lubitsch. Great dialogue, characters, and physical humor.
That was the first Cassavetes movie I saw, and will always be special to me.. The restaurant scene with Timothy Carey is hilarious, especially at the end. I think Katherine Cassavetes is the funniest actress in movies. In "A Woman Under the Influence" (in my Top 10 movies of all-time), she plays a great conniving mother-in-law, who makes a smooth transition when Mabel comes back.
Ghost World - You'll fall in love with this movie! Limelight - An amazing film that has the only pairing of Charlie Chaplin & Buster Keaton in an amazing scene! Maidentrip - After watching this, I now want to go around the world in a boat! A great film!
Murder in the First Kevin Bacon gives the performance of a lifetime in this movie, he should have got best supporting award for that year. imo
Hearts of the West (with Jeff Bridges), Alex and the Gypsy (Jack Lemmon), The Passenger (Antonioni film, with Jack Nicholson)
