Sadly, sometimes there is no rational explanation for what people do or how they react. :(

One of those "what were they thinking" decisions was utilizing a fart machine for Jackson Browne's "Walking Slow".

Today, I was breaking in my new Schiit Bifrost 4490 board upgrade with my Grado cans, opting for the Late For The Sky SH DCC version. The 4490 really does a great job with separation and detail, and paired with the Grados, I'm in hog heaven, loving LFTS, until "Walking Slow" comes on and the separation and detail really isolates all the farting. So I am giggling like the Pink Floyd DSOTM lunatic all the way through.

So striking--in a Beevis & Butthead way--that I almost started a thread, but thankfully searched and found the @driverdrummer comment. :)

    Forgot this one:

Got a complaint on the DOORS' Best Of that I did for Audio Fidelity that said the "songs were too long."

    So weird..

And of course the classic "one complaint fits all" comment:

"This doesn't sound like I remember it!"

    Do you remember this advertisement?

They actually had returns because people said their unit was defective because it didn't expand into a full stereo.

Do these things even exist anymore. I had a friend with a nice stereo and magneplanar speakers. Traded it all in for a Bose Wave. Oy.

Steve, I'm hoping I've chosen the best post to request an explanation for the vocal drop-out on 'Magnificent Obsession' track 6 on the DCC Gold CD of The Very Thought Of You (GZS - 1119) - for several days after I purchased it back in 1997 I was in two minds whether or not to send the copy I'd got (from the USA) back for a replacement.....but never got around to doing anything about it.

First of all, you should ask on one of the below threads. (But, hint: you will find your answer already..)

"Just as well it doesn't" would have been the perfect answer to that one.

"Songs too long", "this music is in mono"... Wow, funny and half-brainless reviews, lol.
Wouldn't wonder if also someone bought a CD and later complained "it's too small and doesn't play well on my turntable".

Well, when I worked at Tracks in the early 90’s someone did bring back a thoroughly scratched up laser disc and complained that the whole was too big and the record wouldn’t play. The fact that it cost $40 (records were<$10) and it was a movie should have tipped him off somewhat.

In the early 1970s, I worked sales for an independent distributor in Cleveland, and we had the Savoy label. LPs that our retailers returned as defective were sent back for credit - but Savoy "auditioned" each LP and would send back items (with a note!) that they found NOT to be defective.

It should be noted that this is the Stereo version of Pillow on DCC. The Mono version is sonically OK. I would put this up there in Mr Hoffman's top 5 easily. The stereo is Unlistenable except for the DCC . The Airplane was a rather complex instrumental band and so the stereo mix with separation does have value. Most of the time I prefer Mono on pop albums. But again :tiphat:. PS I bought two copies back in the day. I was so happy.
