This is the year 2019, and apparently the issue is still going on A package has sat at one of the Jersey City post offices for 4 days now. I hope that it's just a matter of a delay and it hasn't been lost or stolen!

I’ve had a package stuck there for 3 weeks now with this pandemic going on. I’ve had others stuck there for 2+ weeks. I’m done ordering online for a while because of it. Can only trust Amazon to overcome shipping obstacles during this time.

I’ve unlisted everything on Discogs because I’m afraid of unforgiving buyers leaving negative feedback because of delays or even worse, not receiving orders.

I know this is not a problem with everting going on in the world now but it’s still frustrating.

An item shipped to me on April 4th was stuck at the Jersey City facility for close to three weeks. It was delivered today. I have a few other "Media Mail" items on the way stuck there for more than a few days now.

All of my tracked first class items are moving normally or even a little faster than usual.

This is an ongoing an interesting story a saga that needs to be told on the national news. I heard it through someone that works at the post office that said if you send something via Media mail that your package will take a tour of the United States.

I look at old posts on this thread and some were concerned of packages being held up for more than a week. There's a new normal now where if you get your package within a couple weeks that's good and your package could be held up for more than a month. After a month it's considered lost by the post office.

I live in northern California and there was a seller who sent a package to me 50 miles away to me. the post office routed it via Los Angeles 400 miles away from me then brought it back up to me. When I told the seller he said I know I had a buyer purchase something from him and he shipped it to Fresno California. The package was routed to Boston Massachusetts then back to Fresno.

Overall I guess the post office does a good job but there are moments when the post office does a severely poor job and they should upgrade their system for more people will become dependent on it over the years.

One of my packages just landed there we'll see how long it sits. some of the other trouble locations that my packages have gotten stuck for quite some time are: Norwalk California, Chicago Illinois, Cincinnati Ohio, Cleveland Ohio, and of course from out of country sometimes not even most times but just a few times in customs.

    No. No it is not.

It is about making triage-like choices, to make sure they have the operating budget to prioritize the mail that matters. When you are legally-bound to fund your pensions further into the future than any other corporation is required, you have to make choices based on what needs to go out the door first. These are not choices based on incompetency, but routing decisions that come down to the people you put into positions in Washington that control the Post Office. These people beg their competitors for the funds to pay for them to keep their jobs every four-to-six years: competitors who want to take these tasks away from the USPS, so they can jack up your shipping costs even more with privately-owned couriers. So they don't care if the Post Office suffers a bad reputation - in fact, they're counting on it.

The Post Office desperately needs to keep running so they have the operating funds to deliver ballots in November: ballots from people who understand what is really at stake here, if we let them get away with it.

We keep seeing these threads over and over, trying to cloud the conversation, making it an issue of poor customer service, when we should really be focusing on how the Post Office got turned into a football in the first place, and who's really doing this. This forum has a strict policy about certain subject matter, so you have to read between the lines. And you see the same people doing this over and over, despite never having responded to these very real reasons their complaints here seem to be about nothing but smearing the USPS. We see what you're doing.

In fact, you can click on every message in this thread, and see just how many new members appear to have limited or negligible activity on this board, save for commenting about poor postal service...you can even see how many times the same voices have chimed in on the same subject.

You can start thread after thread about the symptoms, or you could do something about the underlying cause. If your entertainment media purchases matter so much to you...call out the for-profit courier services that put their profits into decisionmakers who are literally crippling the nation's most civic-based public service. Pay your bills by mail. Write your grandmother. Buy a freakin' stamp.

Stop trying to make this a consumer issue, when you know good and well it's a citizen issue.

I don't think that it is a customer service issue as much as it is a efficiency issue. I believe that you're right the United States post office needs more funds to upgrade its system or hire more manpower so that it can efficiently handle the packages or parcels coming through its doors.

Maybe we should make national heroes of our postal workers like we did a little bit ago with grocery workers and truck drivers and other essential workers. Trust me I'm grateful when the postman delivers my package. If it wasn't for people selling product to me online and the postman delivering it to me I'm not certain how does quarantine would look like for me.

Please don't feel that we all think that the postal people are stupid or aimless. It's just that they're not as efficient as they need to be. Even as inefficient as they are right now they still, in my opinion, are better than FedEx and UPS and DHL.

It's our right to complain on a forum like this. If you don't like it you don't have to read the messages. This forum is not here to attack or question others critically. We can, in general terms, criticize things. If we didn't like the person who sold us a record album cuz they bent the corners of our record we can criticize them for not handling our product efficiently or having poor judgment when it comes to grading records. We are allowed to do that. We're not attacking them personally.

Please don't be upset when people speak up because there are things that they don't like. It's just our way of sharing our experiences with others to see if other people feel the same way.

    ....:faint:

    1) As I recall, John Oliver was just as G-rated as Jerry Seinfeld, when he was on basic cable as a "correspondent" on The Daily Show.
    2) If you want to know where Jerry Seinfeld has gone, he spent the past nine seasons on the digital network Crackle, hosting Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, which is moving to Netflix soon.
    3) In fact, if you want to know about "comedians like Jerry Seinfeld", you will find them all on cable, where they have more access to the complete range of expressions and epithets, as they are used to using on stage in public.
    4) Broadcast television is restricted by a set of language and content standards that have long been the subject of frustration with artists and producers alike, but put in place not to reflect reality, but to keep stuffy people from complaining.

I'm not certain where I heard it but someone said it takes more skill to make someone laugh without being obscene. One can tell a joke that's not obscene that could come across as corny or silly but not really make you laugh deep down inside. Back in the 80s before the Seinfeld show Jerry Seinfeld had a stand-up act which was much like his show. It was so good that it's spawned the show.

Someone who has good material and great timing will become timeless. Acts like Abbott and Costello and Laurel and Hardy even though they are dated are still as funny today as they were when they we're new. It doesn't take much effort to be crude. After the novelty wears off the people who appreciate that kind of thing walkaway. Where is Andrew Dice Clay today?

He's on Showtime. New series debuted in April. What does not knowing popular comedians curse have anything to do with complaining about the Post Office?

If I'm not quoting you when responding, it's probably my first indication I'm done speaking directly to you. Congratulations on at least getting the speling parshaly rite on the comedian's name.

Most of the good USPS transfer facility people retired. Jersey City has always been a USPS joke. Miami next. Chicago third. Bay area next.

I have a bunch of records sent from Germany last month and stuck at this Jersey City Processing center. It has been there since July 1st. I know with Covid this isn't anything new, but at what point should i actually worry? It's about $300 worth of records...

What was your method of payment? If you used Paypal you have a 180 day refund guarantee. I'm not sure if credit cards are as generous, but I'd think they'd have at least a 60 day policy in place.

Decades ago(late '90s-early '70s) Philadelphia Magazine explored the postal system. A letter from one side of Market St. to be sent to the other side of Market St. was routed to Pittsburgh. Standard operating procedure. Current folks with possibly some powers that be want to create doubt in the USPS because of the increase use of vote-by-mail-completely without merit. My kid has been voting in Portland,Or.,currently a hot spot in the news, and voting by mail is the way of life with no-repeat-no problems. Outside of this phenom, there are actually less, not more folks depending on the USPS. My monthly intake consists of a few bills and junk mail Some days the incoming goes directly to the recycle bin. I only open junk mail if there is a blank side on a sheet to place in my printer. I send "no postage due" return envelopes with the junk the originally letter contained, clipping out,not just blacking out, any reference to personal info.
