The Disney Channel (Disney Plus) is apparently releasing all Star Wars material on May the 4th, including all nine of the full feature episodes. I'm watching the original (released) trilogy. And probably just A New Hope & The Empire Strikes Back. Anyone planning or currently watching anything in the Star Wars universe this weekend? Post em! And, of course, May the force be with you, always.

Oh, yes. Lately, I primarily have been watching Rebels - right now I'm towards the end of season 2. Yesterday, I watched the entire Clone Wars (the 2003-2005 micro-series, not to be confused with The Clone Wars, 2008-2020). I know it's not considered cannon anymore, and that there are continuity conflicts with The Clone Wars (now especially with season 7), but it's still a good watch.

Through Disney+ I caught up on The Clone Wars, to the point where I've been watching the new season 7 episodes as they are released. Therefore, I too await tomorrow and the release of the series finale. I also plan on watching the first episode of that Mandalorian documentary that comes out tomorrow.

In addition, yesterday I ordered The Rise of Skywalker on blu-ray. While I've seen the film twice (once in the theater and once when it first came out on digital) it was the only one I didn't yet have on physical media. Lastly, this past week I received The Rise of Skywalker soundtrack on vinyl in the mail; this completes my set of the vinyl copies of each film's soundtrack (with the exception of Solo, where the soundtrack doesn't appear to exist on vinyl).

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away three classic films were released and loved by millions. Then the dark times came when the series was ruined by its creator and then even more so by the evil empire known as Disney.

It's interesting that there isn't a single shot of Yoda in the "Empire" trailer. I wonder why that is.

For lovers of Episode 5 here's a decent copy and simulation of what it was like to watch Empire back on May 21, 1980: it's an anamorphic widescreen preservation of the best pieces of (2) 16mm prints of the original Star Wars (compliments of the Internet Archive).

Dear God, that print looks like it's been put through a wood-chipper and re-assembled with scotch tape ;)... can't say I'm not thoroughly enjoying every second of it, though!!! It's actually pretty watchable, all things considered... just another reminder of what a great film it is... R.I.P. Kersh; you may not have wanted the job initially, but boy did you knock it out of the park!

That being said, if it's all the same to you; I'd much prefer brand new 4K scans of the OT theatrical master interpositives... if the likes of Harmy and Mike Verta are getting such results as they are from secondary/ancillary sources, think of what a professional restoration one generation removed from the original camera negatives (and without Uncle George around to muck it up!) would look like... the Mouse House ain't gettin' another dime outta me until that happens!!!

Here's a video of a very rare VHS recording of 1980 cinema audience's reaction to the revelation of Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker) being Luke's father. The uploader said the tape was found in a Goodwill. Pretty remarkable.

    Something's weird about that video.

To my ears, Vader seems to be saying "No Luke, I am your father" in that clip ( maybe I am imaging it)

But I thought the line was "No, I am your father"

Darth Vader v Luke Skywalker no I am your father scene

I heard that too. There's a pinned comment on the video that is supposedly from the son or daughter of whoever captured the video. It's said to be a coincidental glitch when "No, Luke" is said and has nothing to do the Mandala effect or sound mix. I hope it's true because that's a pretty cool glitch.
