Those have all been there for at least a month and a half now but they are “newer” compared to the initial sale they started. Glad you got in on it! Great deals and all of those sound fantastic!

I did that too... then I wound up going back anyway. And again. And now I bought all of the ones on the list that I didn’t already have. Hope your willpower is stronger than mine!!!

(Other than the recent James Gang best of) I admit I am an APO fanboy.

Thinking about going back to the well. Thoughts on the Ted Nugent and Lynyrd Skynyrd albums? Worth the $$?

The oop Nugent SACD is superb. A.S. told me there is a possibility they may repress the SACD. Right now it sells on ebay/Amazon in the $75 range. Haven't heard the vinyl. It's still available. The Skynards are good sonicly. The Nugent has better sound than the Skynyrds on my system.

The Nugent SACD is wickedly good, but the Legacy remastered by Vic Anesini is no slouch either IIRC

Anyone pick up the Blood Sweat & Tears box set and have opinions on it?

I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on the 45 RPM version, but even discounted it’s a lot of scratch and I really only love their first two records.

I have the SACD. It's very good, but as you can see pricey.

Ellington’s Blues in Orbit is a stone cold classic and if you like Duke at all, you definitely need that one. I would also highly recommend Duke/Hodges Side by Side, especially if you already have Back to Back (and if not, get both!)

The rest is really a matter of taste, as they all sound fantastic. The smoothest is the Hawkins/Webster, as those guys have a tone like melted butter.

I’d also put in for the Elvin Jones and the Elmo Hope.

Add to the Elmo & Orbit:

    Blues a Plenty
The Artistry of Freddie Hubbard (John Gilmore & Curtis Fuller)
Prestige All Stars (leaderless recordings that were re-branded as All Stars - Mobley & Byrd front line!)
    Mobley's 2nd Message

But it's hard to go wrong with any of these...

FYI: I do SACD, no vinyl at this time.

If I didn't have any of them I would get:

Coleman Hawkins - Encounters Ben Webster
Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges - Side By Side
Duke Ellington - Blues In Orbit
    Johnny Hodges - Blues A

I recently ordered Coleman Hawkins - Coleman Hawkins and Confreres

Oddly, I didn't think the SACD sounded as good as a budget Italian cd I had. That does not happen often. If you;re looking at vinyl , you can probably ignore that comment.

I'm not familiar with the other titles, but Hubbard's Blue Note releases are usually excellent.

That title by Hubbard on his list is on Impulse! — not a favorite of mine. YMMV of course.

Put a order in for the 45rpm Moanin ans then the 33 Son House release. For $25 I thought it was worth picking up. I want to pick up the Nugent release and maybe another BN 45 but we'll see. Im kinda waiting until memorial day sale or maybe a father's day sale? What do you guys think is more likely? Maybe we'll get a 20% off deal

I think you might get both even, but the extra 10-20% off won’t apply to already marked down items anyway. These are already as cheap as they are going to get, so if you want them, I would advise buying them now. I really can’t imagine them selling them for less than they are now.

Did you compare the Nugent AP SACD to the original CD? I've read that the original is the best digital for that album.

I did last year, & I disagree. The CBS is good, & imo the APO SACD is better (assuming you have a quality SACD player & are playing the dsd layer).

I see that Ryan Smith mastered it. To be honest, I've yet to be impressed by his work.

I'm glad you like it, though
