Live in Japan is the only CD of theirs I listen to but it's a great one and actually listenable at DR 9.
Happy 25th birthday to Opeth's Orchid. Still love this one, fave tracks are Under the Weeping Moon, Forest of October, Into the Frost of Winter.
Temple Of Void: "Quarantine blows, but we had our first band practice back last night and completed a whole song. So we're making the most of our down-time. Writing for album 4 is firmly underway already. Got another song ready to go for next week, too. Stay positive."
I've been making my way down your list and I'm hung up on the Howls of Ebb album. I simply can't make myself pause it to move on to the next album in the list.
Having gone through the whole list, the only thing from your list that really stood out to me (other than what I'd already heard) was that Howls of Ebb album.
so, I guess I'm honestly confused. the argubably most unlistenable album on the list is the only thing that stood out compared to the tastemaker-zine copy-pasta list of generic albums of the week?
I guess we're both confused. I was listening to YOUR list. Where do you get this stuff about a "tastemaker-zine copy-pasta list?" Are you sure you're not confusing me with someone else there?
This is awesome, gotta strike while the iron is hawt! In my latest haul, I finally got around to ordering the reissue of Hooded Menace's Never Cross the Dead. Also ordered their singles collection Gloom Immemorial. Also picked up some nwthm in the form of Enforcer's Death by Fire and Stereo Nasty's Twisting the Blade.
My initial impressions of TIDAL - awesome, sound quality is noticeably better than Apple Music especially if the file is a MASTER (High Resolution).
let me replay the order for you me: that tastemaker zine list is a predictable joke of boring and crappy corporate watered down "metal" by the biggest advertising labels in the scene you: oh really , what do you like instead me: here's a list you: i haven't hear much from that list me: you should check it out you: I did and the only one that stood out is Howls of Ebb me: really? you think everything else on my list sounds like the stuff on the zine list?
How is their selection? I'm constantly impressed that Spotify has most of the bands/albums I search for, no matter how obscure, not even signed to a label, etc. I've never used Tidal or Apple Music, so I'm not sure how they compare.
Give me some names and I'll check. For Apple Music if it's in the store 99.9% chance you can stream it, the only big name that isn't on TIDAL as far as I know right now is Metallica. Both claim over 60 million songs in their catalogs, that's a lot of music.
In your rush to be as contentious as possible you have in fact gotten confused. I'm not the one who asked for your list: Grrrrr: The Black Metal ~ Death Metal Thread* Also, to be clear, I never said everything else on your list "sounds like the stuff on the zine list." I don't think I ever cared one way or the other about Decibel's list. In fact, when I saw your list I complimented your choice of Satan's Hallow. If you don't like my taste that's fine, but at least get your fact straight when it comes to who said what. Particularly when all you have to do is look back a few pages to double-check.
