That's why the DVR is one of mankind's greatest inventions, along with EZ-Pass.

The Eagles weren't really overplayed here until Hotel California, which was bludgeoned to within an inch of its life on rock radio. There are a handful of records that I never need to hear again, and that's one of them. Not a bad record, but when I hear that guitar intro to the title track, a groan is my first thought. I actually kind of like the early records, but haven't heard one in many years.

I should let you think so, but really I googled "straight from the heart" because I knew there had to be some schlocky song with that title, and Bryan Adams always delivers.

I'm watching the Del Fest from above for some good daytime jams. But this is the tune sami named:

I thought this was cool when I was in junior high or high school, but every song he released after this was, in my opinion, awful. Sort of a first single head fake. Maybe some here saw the signs. I did not.

I watched that documentary (History of the Eagles) on Netflix several years ago and thought it was pretty interesting, especially Part I.

Well, I for one are happy that they still play Hotel California every time I was backpacking in Thailand instead of Avicci.
Haven't been there in five years but I hope it is the same in the low key places.

Here's a Thai song that everyone in my crew loved. But the Thai muscians that we talked to hated it. It was their Hotel California and they got requests for it 55 times a day...

    What goes around

It's great. They show two parts of the story. Who was expecting that? Not me.

Listening to Wilco by the way. Started with Being There and is now up to Yankee H.F. Been skipping a lot though, maybe playing five songs from every record or so... That's good. The EP way or something. A quick listen.. but not to quick to get the overall vibe of these three great records.

Normally I might post this in the Avant-Garde thread (probably unseen by most of you all)

    The Underflow

    Mats Gustafsson
    David Grubbs
    Rob Mazurek

recorded live in Athens, Greece on May 31st, 2019

5 improvised pieces - first time meeting

Mats on baritone saxophone, flutephone, flute & some LIVE electronics - this is the MAD Swede at his finest yet most restrained. As you might know he’s on my short list of true musical heroes. He’s been improving and innovating for a couple of decades plus - and this one is a doozy.

hope one day we get some live shows again..

rare almost pure flute solo about 2/3rds of the way through the program - wow

Mazurek on Piccolo trumpet, Wooden flute, electronics & his insane voice here and there

Grubbs (new to me) on guitar

on the great label Corbett Vs. Dempsey

the 4 CD box gives a great taste of Wilco for me. I’ve not been too thrilled with the more recent stuff but through A Ghost is Born is pretty strong stuff to my ears. I like the outtakes sometimes more than the album tracks. Tweedy is best when he’s informal I think

Love when Tweedy's guitar kick in on "At Least That’s What You Said"
It's a beautiful thing when someone steps up and take the lead, when that someone is not known for his guitar playing at all.

The record is A ghost is born from 2004. They lost Jay Bennett a few years before and didn't gain Nels Cline until the next year.
So Tweedy did the unexpected and played some really cool guitar.

I’m in full festival mode, sticking with the programming.

although.....Greensky just finished and missing the traveling Mcourys wouldn’t be the worth thing ever.

A friend sent me this. Didn't know what to think...
But it's better than expected. And every time they sing togehter there is that unmisstaken Band sound that we love so much.

Manuel looks kinda the same since the Last Waltz but Danko and Helm has aged.

Manuel takes one of Helm's verses on The Weight. Unexpected to me and very nice!

Danko does a great It makes no difference I have to say.

They all sound pretty good actually.
Helm was always a great live singer(despite his later throat problems), so no worry's there. Danko
sounds fine, but a bit rough for sure. But still, it's Danko!
Manuel is way better than I thought.
And it looks like he has a good time!
He is featured more here than in The Last Waltz...

Bless him. Love to see(and hear) him sing!

One year later(1984) and Manuel sounds much rougher, but damnit, isn't this bittersweet and great!

It's like listening to an old blues man or Ray Charles or Johnny Cash in their later years. They still brought that something that made them great. Manuel did too!

A short while before Manuel passed away in 1986.
There was still magic when they sang together!
Danko is taking the lead and he sings fantastic! Helm and Manuel joins in on the chorus for that amazing three piece The Band sound!

Had to miss Greensky, but I'll go back and watch it at some point. D&C about to start, then probably BMFS, if Linda has anything to say about it.
