I have Book of Dreams & Fly Like An Eagle Gold DCC CDs. But, I am curious as to the best mastered CDs releases for the '68-'73 catalogue? Any thoughts?Original Capitals? US? Japan?Thoughts opinions would be greatly appreciated. Even links to threads I somehow "missed" I found a few closed & very shorts threads that I wished provided more to go off of. Thanks for reading & or helping out here;)

Paul McCartney sounds great on the original Brave New World Capitol CD.

If it's any help to you I have a good compilation called 'The Best of 1968-1973 '.It's missing a few tracks I'd like to have on it but what is there is choice.

I have the Capitols of the first three, and I think they're OK, but I've never compared them with other reissues.

That be it. EMI JAX would be a later run using the same mastering.
    Good question on those Japan's.
I'm sure @Dave will recommend the one that was manufactured on Pluto, they only made four, one ended up accidentally missing us and got caught up in the moons orbit

When Steve did the Greatest Hits('74-'78) DCC Gold CD I read this morning trying to get info it appears the Orig. Capitals had the 45edit versions on the CD releases & Steve opted for the album length versions for this DCC CD release(Greatest Hits). So,curious "if" there could be 45edited versions on the '68-'73 era Cds as well. Or maybe the "hits" that were shortened were only from the popular side of the SMB releases('75 onward) Because that was his commercial turning point?

Just noting this as I prefer the album length version of any song in the digital (CD)form.

I cheated (didn't buy the albums) and got this CD instead. The sound is decent. Made in 1990:

What release? There are many it appears that were issued in '90? US release? I'm assuming these are all the same mastering (Discogs link below):)

    Thanks George:)

Interesting observation I noticed (maybe just a listing typo?) The first Track-The Joker on this release you posted has a run time 4:23
The Joker album 4:26 but,the Greatest Hits ('74-'78)DCC Gold release runtime 3:26? Steve Miller Band - Greatest Hits 1974-78

Gotta be a typo. Equally interesting, The Joker appears on both Greatest hits(68-73) &(74-78) but, according to Discogs, the longer version is on the 1st GH comp.

dBPoweramp reads 4:25 for Joker on my CD. 4:28 on my DCC GH.
