"Life of ease" is in both stereo and mono. You mean the cutoff at the beginning? The mistake? Why would anyone want that?

When John echoes the lyrics in the last verse it fades up at “everyone of us” on the original Stereo. No “life of ease”

Yeah, a goof. Guy couldn't be bothered to do another mix to fix it, thought no one would notice. Same for Rigby. Stupid, sloppy mistakes, easily fixed back then but no one cared. The mono was what mattered.

I was so used to the original stereo that when they played the mono on TV during the movie I was shocked.
    Yeah. Rigby is horrible.
Also, I think the ADT vocal effect gets ruined in stereo because they hard panned it.

What's so horrible about it? It's a tiny blip.

It would be interesting to hear that second vocal though.

It’s distracting. You’re talking about the first verse where they fade down the ADT real fast and the lead vocal moves to one side .... correct?
I meant mostly it’s a horrible mistake (and sloppy as you said)and since it was at the beginning they could have easily started over.

Was the stereo Revolver rushed of nobody cared enough about the stereo yet?

It's not ADT, but yes, that's what I'm talking about. Sloppy? Yes. A big deal? I'd argue not.

Not a big deal in the grand scheme... or for speaker listening.
I DO believe it’s an ADT mistake though.

It's not. It's a second vocal track that went unused. While it's possible to basically "reverse" the ADT (lining up the left and right channels so Paul's ADT'd vocal is essentially mono and the strings are essentially ADT'd), it's not possible to do that for "Ela-" at the start of the first verse.

Plus, there's no ADT in the intro, so it doesn't make sense that they would have had to quickly fade it down in mixing. The vocals in the left and right channels in the intro are clearly different vocals.

The left side isn’t beefed up by ADT from the right during the intro?

Nope. Just two different vocal tracks.

Just came across this thread, fantastic. Thanks Steve.
If this has already been asked, sorry. Have you ever done any Zeppelin, would you like to?
Are there a lot of big egos in your business?

I know you can't, and wouldn't, name names, but have you ever had to put your name on a mastering job that you were unhappy with because of what "they" wanted?

Sadly, yes. Not many though. Usually it's a surprise (remastered after my mastering).

Never done any Zep, no. Egos? Sure, big. Wouldn't have it any other way. The only way to get anywhere in this business..

The Victory and Rhino series are the best the ELP catalogue has ever sounded. Not sure about the latest Andy Pearce BMG catalogue versions however.

Welcome Back re-mastered by Andy P & Matt Wortham from 2016 is the best I have heard of this live recording. Now if only someone can find the quad tapes and release them, that would be great!

Start a record label first, get a million in the bank to show them that you are serious. Then they might talk to you.
