Finally picked up Voyage myself last year used, glad I did (seeing the doc actually compelled me to add it to the collection). The rare stuff on Disc 3 is the crown jewel and is at times revelatory.

I'm thinking of the scene where David is standing in driveway of what used to be Joni's house. Lot of silence there; just looking at David's face and what was perhaps going through is mind about where he'd been and his screwups. Reminds me of Van Morrison asking Peter Wolff IIRC - but I think I might well be wrong - to drive him into Cambridge late at night and Van directing him to the house where he and Janet lived and where much of Astral Weeks was written. Van sat in silence for a bit staring at the house and then said to drive on.

The three sets - Voyage, Reflections and Carry On - are all worth adding to any collection.

I'm definitely interested in the Stills set, the Nash one, not so much, but I'm sure it has some great stuff on it.

You & me both. I moved from a suburban tri level to a mobile home when a long term formerly quite profitable internet music/movie business died. I had to sell off my Well Tempered Turntable & about half of my guitar equipment for $'s; & my records & 3/4 of my books for space. Fortunately I've been converting much of my music collection to lossless & hi-res files anyway; but I've still got 1 bedroom devoted to music discs, & the entire perimeter of my living room is film discs.

No clue what I'm going to do when my 2011 Oppo 95 dies. It's already been repaired once.

Makes me reflect on Janet Planet , and her liner notes for Moondance. And those touching photos of Janet and Van.

‘Melody’, ‘Distances’, ‘Flying Man’ better than most of Daylight Again......

“Tracks In The Dust” is a great tune. An older, wiser Croz perhaps, but also sounds like it could have been written in the 70’s.

Despite Crosby's largely absence, I like Daylight Again quite a bit. I do feel like that was the last CSN/CSNY album that was even close to the standards they set with the previous album. After that there were usually 1-3 very good songs & a bunch of filler. Other than Live It Up (1 great song that's fortunately on a box set) & After The Storm I'm catalog; but for me there was a huge drop off (not on the C,N, Y solo albums, just the group albums & the Stills solo albums) after Daylight.

“Melody” was a candidate for Daylight Again. Supposedly Stills/Nash overdubs exist. Frustrating that it was never released in either its original solo version or as CSN. “Distances” (and also “Melody”) nearly came out in 1985 on a CSN album, but they scrapped the entire album.

“Tracks In The Dust” was an option for American Dream, but an “unnamed member“ of the group turned it down. It makes no sense. On an album that was both a reunion of CSNY and a celebration of Crosby being alive, only two Crosby songs were featured, and the best new song he had wasn’t considered.

“Climber”? Again, cut from Looking Forward. Possibly to make room for “Queen Of Them All”.

I picked up the Crosby one as soon as it came out and then the Stills one because it was such s great deal (I think I paid £12 on a amazon) and left the Nash one because it always seemed to be quite expensive. In the end I had to bite the bullet. You need all three, put them together and it becomes the expansive CSN archive that they deserve.

Yes. Terrible news. Sometimes life just seems to throw all the sh#t at you at the same time. Croz seems to have it grounded finally, even in his grief, and he has a good woman at his side--that is key...a good mate to help see you through. A light in the darkness.

I hope he survives all this and is able to resume touring someday. Can't wait for his new album that he says is already finished called "Lift".

Out Of Darkness...always uplifting for me, an all time fave Croz tune.
A comfort in these times to hear...

Be the light or love will fade away...

Here in the dark the dusty light is fading
    The lonely night of waiting
Is passing the point and missing the mark

Be the light or love will fade away
Be the light or love will fade away

Here in the shade the leaves of change are falling down
Slowly trying to reach the ground
To touch the earth and turn around

Be the light or love will fade away
Be the light or love will fade away

Out of the darkness suddenly my body can take a breath
I'm coming out of the darkness finally my soul can take a rest

Here in the light a lazy mist is lifting
And the sands of time are slowly shifting
Into the glass with the hours that pass

Be the light or love will fade away
Be the light or love will fade away

Be the light or love will fade away
Be the light or love will fade away
Be the light or love will fade away
Be the light or love will fade away

I'm coming out of the darkness suddenly my body can take a breath
I'm coming out of the darkness finally my soul can take a rest

Hope not...Queen Of Them All is total crap. And Tracks In The Dust is better than 90% of American Dream.

Funny, I had a dream about Croz just last night. Weird since I typically don't think about him much these days, and hadn't in a awhile. But I dreamt some buddies and I caught the last few songs of a Croz solo gig at a bard we walked into, like in a casino or something. He was real skinny, sitting on a stool, the only guitarist in the band, with a bassist, a drummer, and probably his son on piano. He was playing his Strat, and I think sang "Almost Cut My Hair" and "Long Time Gone". Interesting dream.

Thank you for sharing this @lemonade kid. Another great interview with Croz. That's just terrible about his/Melissa/Julie's child. His resiliency is very inspiring. I look forward to his next record very much. I absolutely love his last four records. Just stunning work. Plus, Donald Fagen lyrics on a song and a duet with Michael McDonald? Gonna be another special one I think.

"Masterful songwriting"? Not his strong suit I would say, overshadowed wherever he has been, if he is writing songs then he needs collaborators.

I don't know. There is at least one decent track on American Dream. Compass. Mostly it is the production on American Dream that drags it down.I like the live version of Got It Made on the Box Set.
