    - Not accepting new applications to sell used
    - New, they are essentially asking for wholesale invoices.

I remember it like @Shvartze Shabbos does being at least a year ago Amazon was eliminating the small sellers with ridiculous requirements in order to be able to sell used media on their site. Oh yeah, I'm still going to have my receipt from when I purchased the CD back in 1986.

And if you did, it wouldn't work, anyway. They need an invoice dated within the last few months showing the purchase of a certain number of resale items from an accepted supplier (of which there are only a few).

I used to sell a ton of stuff through Amazon, mostly through their FBA program. Then they changed the rules multiple times, so that it was very costly to have stuff at Amazon that wasn't going to sell almost immediately (long tail stuff, like rare music). So I pulled my stuff back and did 3rd party fulfillment.

Then they clamped down on where you could list as a 3rd party seller, and I took my ball and went to eBay. I prefer selling on Amazon, but they don't want me anymore.

They did this because the labels were tired of competing with cheap sellers. When GoHastings went belly up, that's when they put the pressure on Amazon to eliminate most of the 3rd party sellers in the media sector. It worked, and prices went way up for most cheaper used items.

That's why I stopped buying used CDs on Amazon.

I got thrown under 3 yrs ago. Can only sell very few items that aren’t affiliated with any major music corporation (nowadays that doesn’t leave many options). Don’t understand this policy unless amazon is trying to control prices.

Cheap listings crush Amazon. They got jealous.

No, Amazon makes more on 3rd party sales than on new merch that they sell.

The reason Amazon crushed the third party sellers is pressure from the record labels who don't want their product devalued by the availability of cheap used alternatives.

I just within the last week realized you can buy stuff via Discogs - Music Database and Marketplace so I'm trying that. For selling, I guess eBay. Nothing valuable or cross your fingers, I've read repeatedly they don't protect sellers at all.

Yes, another small seller that got thrown under the bus here :sigh:

I should try Discogs, I suppose.

As some have already stated, this isn't new or Covid-19 related. Even though I had previously (100% feedback) sold a handful of CD's in the past, I was denied when I tried to post one a couple years back.

Same deal as others here.... They are requiring a scan of a recent invoice from a wholesale distributor or record label with sold to information that matches my Amazon address. AS IF.....

So basically, no one can sell their personal collections on Amazon anymore.

I've not sold at all the last couple years, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to sell via eBay or Discogs as my buying experiences there have been good.

Also, doesn't this site provide the ability to buy/sell/trade? I've read of this on other forums but I think I'm too new here and haven't "unlocked" that capability as yet. Appreciate any info as to how that works here.

I thought that this was a CD seller issue, mainly cheap, used, or major label things. Is it now LPs as well?

I've been selling used vinyl for 8-9 years. I did get 99% of my CDs pulled, but I'd already sold off most of them right before the big dump.

I thought it is not used media so much as used CDs?

    Media or just CDs?

With paypal rules in place, the buyer always has the upper hand unless it is proven the buyer is a scam artist. Some buyers have been busted trying to scam sellers. Like returning an old VCR in an Oppo box and claiming they returned the item.

I had ebay side with me over a buyer trying to buy some very rare LPs (radio shows) from me, copy them and then return saying the items were incomplete. But there were messages of the buyer asking me what exactly was included. I stated what was included and referred to the pictures and said only what you see in pictures is what you get. I was very surprised to win 3 cases opened by this buyer.

Anyway, all venues protect the buyer first. Not just ebay.

You could be right. I've never sold on Amazon, but remember the ruffled feathers around here when Amazon started deleting sellers items for sale.

I just loaded up a hundred LPs at Amazon and 206 over at Discogs as well. I like just having a few sales a month with no work (because the work is already done) other than packing and shipping them off. This is my lower level inventory but it's a lot of still sealed copies. I like having the nicest copies of the given album, so if it is common stuff, at least mine is top condition and sealed and can command a higher price I'd hope.

If we are heading into the great depression again later this year, I'd like to have a bit of consistent action happening on the side.

That goes for a lot of us, but is getting off the topic of this forum. May I suggest Tinder.com?

Off topic? How do you figure? You asked if it was just you, not being able to sell music on Amazon. That opens up several issues. You then further brought up Discogs. another wide-open topic, fine.

So I mentioned that I have only had issues with selling CDs on Amazon and that LPs are still up and selling there. And that I recently got Discogs going because I'd like some consistent action going on - beyond what Amazon is currently doing for me.

How in the world are any of my comments in any way off-topic for this forum, or this thread? I'm baffled. I guess the only real thing that matters is that I get my sales action going somewhere in addition to Amazon and that it is somewhat consistent. You would do well to follow my lead, as I've been wheelin' and dealin' on ebay or other places for 20 years. :agree::laugh::cool:

Agree. It was the “action happening on the side” phrase that caught attention, methinks...

Not very logically obviously! @quicksrt and @Daddy-O4 noted, the "action on the side" phrase took my mind in a different direction :D
