What are your top 5 debut rock albums from the 60’s?
I was going to do every genre, until I found out I didn’t know a blues or jazz debut album to save my life. Google was of little help.

I’ve missed out many, so feel free to specify other choices in the comments :)
I have a feeling Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Doors and Velvet will be list toppers.

I picked The Doors, The Beatles, Hendrix, Zeppelin and Floyd.

The Who and Yes were close. I love both of their debuts. Love may be my second favourite band but their debut definitely isn’t a favourite of mine (although I do enjoy it). Still, it hurt to leave it out.

If it were possible to get a definitive top 5 most people could agree on here, I imagine it'd be this.

I didn't base anything of quality but just stuck to the 5 most significant artists.
Beach Boys, Beatles, Stones, Who and Zeppelin.

Hendrix and Doors were right there.

Damnit. I was going to add Jefferson and then I forgot.
Can't believe I forgot about The Byrds.

Damn! Another one I left off that could've replaced lesser-known artists.

When your first album is arguably your best:

    Are you Experienced
    The Doors
    Velvet Underground & Nico
    Led Zeppelin
    +Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes!

added the Ronettes album because they only made one proper album and they’re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Nice. I didn't know they made only one proper album or that they were in the R&R HoF. I should give it a listen sometime.

It's a magnificent album, but they had some great singles that weren't on it. A best of compilation could be a better listen nowadays.

They are the albums that stand out for me.

I love the Who, Stones, Beatles, Beach Boys, CCR.... I mean I love most of those bands, but to me, those five artists arrived on the market with their debut albums fully formed

My five will in no way echo the norm, or end up on any acclaimed list (except for perhaps a couple of them). Nonetheless, these are the five I still return to the most...in order pretty much...

    1. Led Zeppelin
    2. Surfin Safari - Beach Boys
    3. The Zombies
    4. The Doors
    5. The Monkees

Funny how all except one are self-titled!
