One of those rare talents who gave us the gift of laughter and lived a good life as well; with a long lasting marriage, productive children, and lifelong friendships .

The Dick Van Dyke Show was a classic that defined sitcoms, it was intelligent and vibrant with lovable characters ; and timeless. I still watch it and laugh along today. To celebrate the man, perhaps we should all have a nice bowl of walnuts.

I consider this the all time funniest sketch in the history of TV. If you were familiar with the original
"This Is Your Life" show (as I was back in the 50's), this parody hit all of the marks. And Howard Morris
was a comedy genius. Every time I see it, I laugh out loud....

And here's a somewhat better quality video of the "This Is Your Story" sketch. And Carl Reiner
was a great "straight man" in it, especially when he had to keep Sid and "Uncle Goopy" apart.

Clearly, they are at Carl's house. He gets the big easy chair with his feet up on the ottoman.

Mel has to sit in the formal stiff chair.

But what the heck is in the Ziplock bags under the telephone??

The Dick Van Dyke Show is the greatest sitcom of all time, and The Jerk is easily one of the funniest movies ever. RIP

    RIP.

Probably some of the last work he did was some brief promotion bits for MeTV. In character now as Alan Brady, he invited people to watch TDVDS to see him! "See me - on Me - TV!"
Also, since MeTV recently added Happy Days, the channel went through all other series it has right now and found many bits of other show characters saying "Happy Days" and one bit of Alan Brady saying "Ah happy days are here again!" with, I think, a flash of Carl (Alan) in the present day. These promos were running at least earlier this week, but are probably just archived now.

MeTV Celebrates Carl Reiner beginning Sunday, July 5

Thought I'd post one more song by the 3 Haircuts, mainly because Carl Reiner is
absolutely hilarious in it, and over the top. From 1956....
