The Concept: If a band released more than one album in 1967, then the ones after the first are included on the list.
    You get 5 picks.

This includes compilations if the majority of the songs were recorded in '67 and not included on the previous album.

This includes bands who did even more than 2 albums per year. It's basically a game of who had the best 'left-overs', as many successive albums within the year were likely singles or songs not good enough to make the big, previous release, as with the case with The Doors for example. 1967 was a very prolific year, and it's my favourite year for music too, so I thought it'd be interesting to do.

I know I've made a couple similar threads recently so I'm going to lay-off. I just thought it'd be interesting given how many huge albums released in the year were followed up by others of varying degrees of quality.
If people enjoy this then I'll do 1966 too as that had many more 'sequels', then I'll call it a night (week).

I tried to include more genres. I don't know jazz or blues, so sorry if some of these guys are oddly obscure.
I chose not to pick as I know very few of these albums, but I'll just say that Strange Days is a far better album than their debut in my opinion, and is one of my all time favourite albums.

For me personally, Magical Mystery Tour would be #1.

    Probably followed by:

    2. Their Satanic Majesties Request
    3. Strange Days
    4. Wild Honey
    5. More of the Monkees

Apparently Heaven Is In Your Mind is less of a follow-up and more just a different version of their debut for other countries. Sorry about that, and thanks @anth67 for correcting me.
I can't change the poll now.

Yeah. I think the winners here will be quite obvious. Still, I'm interested to see who will come out on top amongst the others.

One of mine is the Otis live. It’s a terrific, nice sounding, document of his energy.

Strange Days and Axis are the 2 best IMO. Both slightly better than the debuts they followed.

Maybe I'm misreading the thread, is it a sequel in the same year? More of the Monkees was their first album from 1967.

"MMT" is the only one of those I play regularly.

I occasionally listen to "Satanic" but it's not a good album!

Wild Honey - The Beach Boys: A great album, fun and not as in your face quirky as some from they dropped areound that time

Interstellar Space - John Coltrane: Pure brilliance

Nina Simone Sings the Blues - Nina Simone: A great album from someone who was dropping a huge string of masterpieces at the time
